ECNL has a rock solid track record of college signings.
I'm sure thorns have gotten a few over the years?

That's why they are giving away the uniforms ;)

Girls that play soccer get athletic scholarships.

USYS leagues and their championship series have 100x more college players as byproducts of their historical competitive platform in the last 25 years, than any other league offering ever invented.

With that fact being a known, known--should all clubs play in only the USYS leagues and championship series--above all other league offerings?

That's the insane dose of logic being vomited out over and over by the FC PDX and CU contingent.

Do you really think it's convincing any Oregonians to join your club? Only those that can afford 10K per year even consider it. It's really that simple.

College is an easy choice. ECNL is the proven track.

If you want path to pros instead, Thorns is a good option and $200 less per month.

Be fair. At Crossfire it's only $9800, and they include shirts.

Can anyone produce a list of college signings for Thorns this year?

ECNL is less than 8 years old. How many 8 year old things do you consider "proven"?

The only thing it really affords time for is HS Soccer.
It isn't common but there are ECNL players who have successfully navigated being able to do other sports in HS (basketball, skiing, track are the most common). Some colleges supposedly even like to see that. I would imagine it is extremely rare for players to be exceptional at soccer and something else and get your point. The fact is no one likes to talk about it but the staggering number of injuries occurring at younger ages because only playing one sport is well documented. GDA/ECNL both need to make sure these kids are all working on cross training in whatever capacity so not wearing down these kids. I'd be interested in seeing date on boys DA and injuries happening now that it has been around for a while.

At this point, the track record of ECNL for getting local top female players into collegiate soccer key. Will have to wait and see how GDA fares and that will take a couple years. I don't want my kid to be a guinea pig for anything.

A number of girls already verbally committed but still have 1-3 years before college.

It wasn't a good year for that but hope to get better.

To clarify the 'ECNL' has no record of getting girls into college. It's just a league.

It's actually the stand alone CLUB that has a record of getting girls into college.
Slammers, Surf, Real So Cal, Eclipse etc....

Since the locally based FC and CU clubs joined the ECNL their record of getting girls into college has gone down vs the era when those 3 clubs LOSC, FC & THUSC played in the OYSA/USYS platform.

GDA is not a local Oregon Club option, since no Oregon club will ever get that nod from US Soccer. Only the NWSL Portland team gets it, as part of it's infrastructure and US Soccer directive.

The NWSL Portland Thorns Academy hasn't gotten many over the years.

Thanks for clarification. We had heard from several DOCs the combined college/OYSA numbers were higher three years ago before ECNL. I hope girls aren't just quitting the sport if they don't make one of these expensive travel teams.
