The recruitment of GPS girls is actually getting a bit hilarious. They are good but no one person makes a team. GPS is a great team because all the players are good and work hard together.

      College is not for everyone.

      Chose wisely.

Given the state of our local club options for girls in youth soccer; no club has any hold on players with the level of coaching offered, any record of achievement on the field- as it cannot be quantified since nobody plays for anything these day except book monies at obscure colleges. Throw-in airline travel costs and 4 day trips out of state.

Wouldn't it be nice if someone was willing to pay for this kind of experience for us and clear up the mess.

            Can't wait for that day.

Oregon has no 'great teams' at any level today.

CU, FC P & GDA have taken off already and are getting filled up quickly with the area's best talent, the GDA has the advantage since it's paid for.

NorCal teams aren't relevant to us in dinky Oregon.

The best players are already switching to the GDA, the next layer to CU and FC P.

Wait a couple years to decide so you have absolutely no chance of making those evolved squads.

Sound Advice, or truth as you put it.

                LOL

For some girls college is not the destination.

Why don't we want to get better consolidate talent an represent the best Oregon has on a national platform.

We are more interested in playing HS soccer for the best of the best girls.

What the hell is wrong with us?
The problem is that DA doesn't "fit" as that best platform for many families who have a daughter who is a multisport athlete and who wants the social aspect of playing HS soccer. I get it for the boys since there are a lot more pro opportunities. The fact is we never should have had 2 ECNL teams in Portland metro and now with 2 ECNL and DA team everyone will be screwed.

40% of top girls will play ECNL
15% of top girls will try the thorns
                        the rest will play elsewhere.

Most 03s will be in high school this fall. If you were planning on jumping in 2-3 yrs to ECNL or GDA, you're going to have to be exceptional to displace a current player. Not to mention 10th grade is the peak of recruiting season.

There should be one DA for the Soccer junkie elites. One ECNL for soccer junkies that play some other individual sports. OYSA for true multi sport athletes that play Lacrosse, Basketball, Track, etc. Several kids we know gave up basketball, track and softball to accommodate ECNL so careful to hype that up as the pathway for multi-sport kids. The only thing it really affords time for is HS Soccer.

In Oregon 99 percent are not signed until end of Junior Year. Your dd will be no exception.

The GPS players won't have any problem switching whenever they want. GDA & Ecnl will take the best players.
