The CA players are still the same & will thump Oregon girls just like always. No league or academy is going to change that.
    Totally true.

Maybe, but still far more elite than Thorns Academy. Just look at the weak results from silver-level Beaverton Cup for proof of that.

ECNL will stick around, even if it's a weaker version of itself. Everything will just shift up a level - top go to GDA, ECNL becomes 2nd tier, NPL is the one that takes a hit. Why do I think that?

            - there are more college spots to fill than GDA ever could (or what ECNL fills now). GDA will be for top college recruits, ECNL lower level D1 and the rest
            - some players won't be willing to give up HS soccer/multi sports
            - some won't buy into the GDA pitch no matter what
            - ECNL's schedule works better for college coaches than a ten month GDA commitment. College coaches have great connections and know what is required to play at the college level and how to recruit for it.

Are you seriously that thick? Tryouts will be next spring. Clubs will look at anyone they think will help them win, regardless of where they play now (at least the betters one will. The foolish ones will just put a different name on current rosters).

I keep reading here how bad this team is... and it hasn't even been formed yet? You are calling me thick? K

Sorry for the confusion. Let me try to clear it up.

Current Thorns academy teams are so bad they played on age in Beaverton. Older team didn't even win the tournament. Younger almost got bounced by a team playing up.

According to Timbers alliance propaganda there are no quality players in ECNL.

Logic says next year's GDA teams will be at least as terrible as this year's Thorns teams. Maybe worse as the new restrictive nature of GDA may cause a few current players to bail.

                  Does that help?

Are you calling the Thorns Academy "foolish"?

It will actually be weaker than this year's teams. And that's hard to do.

So when ECNL folds, the players in the CU and FCP feeder programs will still stay at those clubs? If the mindset of Portland soccer parents and players is that narrow, then those players deserve to be stuck at those clubs. All this is doing is making an elite national league after ECNL got greedy and added a ton of terrible clubs. And in Portland, it is doing what ECNL should have done all along and that is invited ONE club for this league. The GDA is correcting a number of wrongs. Portland people should be thankful.

TS is the authoritative guide on all things Oregon soccer and US Soccer. If it's posted on TS then it's the truth. Don't hate because TS rulzzzzzz.
