ECNL will stick around, even if it's a weaker version of itself. Everything will just shift up a level - top go to GDA, ECNL becomes 2nd tier, NPL is the one that takes a hit. Why do I think that?
- there are more college spots to fill than GDA ever could (or what ECNL fills now). GDA will be for top college recruits, ECNL lower level D1 and the rest
- some players won't be willing to give up HS soccer/multi sports
- some won't buy into the GDA pitch no matter what
- ECNL's schedule works better for college coaches than a ten month GDA commitment. College coaches have great connections and know what is required to play at the college level and how to recruit for it.

Current Thorns academy teams are so bad they played on age in Beaverton. Older team didn't even win the tournament. Younger almost got bounced by a team playing up.
According to Timbers alliance propaganda there are no quality players in ECNL.
Logic says next year's GDA teams will be at least as terrible as this year's Thorns teams. Maybe worse as the new restrictive nature of GDA may cause a few current players to bail.
Does that help?
