Calm down. The only purpose for thorns academy is to collect fees from girls parents to fund boys DA soccer.

Thorns will be fourth best option in Oregon.

No high school sports is stupid.

Top clubs will put top players in ECNL league and leftovers in DA.

Club =(4.0 daughter) gets accepted to USSDA=(Harvard)

Harvard is the top university in the country and the ussda is the top level of play in my country.

Who Harvard admits is their Business, just like the USSDA.

Because you don't like 1 person who gets admitted to Harvard is your own personal issue. It doesnt change the status of Havard.
Once again a TA lemming puts the cart before the horse. Girls DA is not the top level of play in the nation until they prove it in the field. Until then, they are nothing more than a lemming wet dream.

No high school soccer is a deal breaker for most kids. DA is a non starter for most.

For 2016-2017 most top clubs will be using this league ECNL for one season in preparation for the USSDA in 2017-18.

Some top clubs are just coming to the ECNL for next year only and the ECNL understands this and has allowed the clubs the opportunity to get ready for the USDA by placing them in a division for just one season prior to the USSDA.

In order for a club to be accepted to the USSDA those players will not be allowed to participate in HS Soccer or any other league play.

Only the top players, clubs and coaches from across the nation will be allowed to participate, this league is the direct path to Youth National teams and USWNT plus a few of the USSDA clubs will be aligned directly with a NWSL Professional club, for instance the NWSL champions PORTLAND THORNS were granted a USSDA program in an effort to develop the game in Oregon, something small markets like Portland desperately need in their quest to become relevant beyond their small neighborhood clubs.

If the ECNL is so bad how come the DA wants all of these ECNL clubs? Looking more and more like a power and money grab than anything else, which we knew all along,.

USYS sees all the money going into ECNL and wants a piece of the pie. It's as simple as that.

The ECNL is a rouge operation that grew too fast and without any oversight or leadership from US Soccer. Player development was not a priority, instead they catered their efforts to the college coaches ability to attend events and forgot they were suppose to have quality control and all the families best interests.

US Soccer DA is out of the gate a more attractive option for the top ECNL clubs, that's why they they are leaving the ECNL, as it's not the best vehicle for their stated missions and goals. Otherwise this wouldn't be a discussion and the top clubs would of never considered leaving the ECNL, they the TOP CLUBS have chosen a better path and platform run by US Soccer. Love it or hate it, the clubs have spoken and the ECNL has been marginalized and reduced to ashes beginning in 2017-18.

                          Evolution.

If US Soccer was some evil enterprise wouldn't these highly intelligent clubs with the best players in the country just continue on the ECNL path? They are choosing a path that's best for their membership, if they are worthy of consideration.

I don't know which is more pathetic (i) if you get paid to spew this garbage or (ii) you don't get paid to spew this garbage.

Not at an ECNL club, but my god a couple of you guys have spent 2-yrs spewing your anti-ECNL hate; looks like we will get to read it for another 2-yrs!

UCLA, Stanford, Cal, USC, Duke, UNC, FL St., .... I guess girls who have been selected to go to schools in the Pac 12, ACC, .... even the Ivy, should hold their heads high.
Harvard - 5.5-7% overall admissions rate. Dramatically less for soccer players, who have to qualify both athletically and academically (plus other factors).

Reading your quoted text: it appears the author loves the USSDA model. Why do you think that's pathetic? It has nothing to do with the ECNL? The ECNL is just a league, whoopee.

Better question why are you so against US Soccer? They produce Olympic champions, World Cup Champions and subsidize the NWSL payroll. Without US Soccer leadership our Women's program would not be the best in the World.

They, US Soccer have granted our market a program in the USSDA for 2017-18 which is the greatest achievement in girls soccer in Portland's history.

Don't read into posts loving the USSDA as hating the ECNL they aren't related to each other, sounds more like a personal beef you have with anyone who doesn't think the ECNL is the way to go. The Top clubs have opted out of the ECNL for a better path. Why would you even care?
