Top players will have to make a choice, albeit, a tough choice. And when the best players choose DA over HS because it will be the top league, the pressure to choose DA will outweigh HS. No one wants to be left behind and for those players who want to play D1, not playing DA and settling with mediocre club teams is worth not playing HS.
For the last 2 years the TA folks have been shouting from the mountain tops "don't spend all that money to travel ECNL because you can get those D1 scholarships without ECNL. Now the same people that want the DA are saying you can't play D1 without the DA.

Flip flop much?
No i dont think those same people are promoting thorns. Thorns is relatively new and it has a lot to improve upon but everyone knows you dont need a national league to get what you want. You need a good coach. A good group of players. A range of competition; older, younger, boys, competitive, and easier. Thats it. The rest takes care of itself. There are so many ways to get exposure and with a decent coach connections arent hard to come around.
Mandatory training 4 nights a week and absolutely no high school sports outside of the DA. Oregon does not produce enough quality players to sustain a top level girls program.
Now that sounded Angry. Can we call you Angry Seattle Poster? You seem to fit the bill.
So here we go. US soccer vs. HS soccer/lacrosse/track
Facts-
GDA will not get all the best players
Older players will not do girls da as they have already been vetted by Us soccer.
Talent will be diluted.
Colleges coaches will be spread thin but they will still attend top ecnl and non ecnl events.
GDA will be just as expensive as ECNL
The coaching will be exactly the SAME

Been around this for about 5 years. I'm sure you have been around it for much longer. Watching my daughter and her friends go thru this process I can say from experience the good coach angle can work, but to a lesser degree. A great coach told us at U14 that if my daughter wanted to play college soccer her best bet at that time was Thusc/ now CU or FCP. It was great advice and a selfless act only doing what was best for our daughter. Level of play and comp can't be a small issue. The winds of change may be upon us. Time will tell.
Top 1% aren't even playing HS or opting out of last years anyway.
ECNL in Oregon was meant for middle of the road players anyway who are desperate and throw money at a problem instead of actually getting a ball and going and playing the game.
Maybe they'll learn that good players go, bad players don't, and mediocre players sometimes feel the need to do desperate things like spending your college tuition on club soccer.
Name one top girl in Oregon who doesn't play HS soccer. Just one.

Coaching won't be the same - ECNL is filled with college coaches who won't be able to make a ten month DA commitment. All the rest is spot on
Nothing says talking soccer like when statements are made (all the top girls in Oregon play HS), followed by a statement refuting the facts (5 girls who have been invited to multiple USWNT camps don't play HS). These are regional training centers or ODP, these are USWNT camp invites so I am guessing they are top girls. Then a typical moronic statement (I said top girls).
