Things take time. Where are they suppose to find the extra time to create a new program? Give it 3-4 years and then issue your report card.

In most major markets the GDA is going to be the B offering. Most kids still want to have a childhood and enjoy high school and not be cut off from that.

ECNL will continue to be the top league for the foreseeable future. If NWSL folds next year that will be it.

That is ok because the less good players join GDA the more wins for the NWSL Portland team. If the good players want to avoid it that is their loss and wins for thorns.

Sure they are - just as the Timbers. Wonder why so many of them got cut by ECNL clubs, or rode the pine on ECNL "B" teams last year. Curiouser and curiouser...

Give the program a couple years to work out the bugs. Any time you create a new program from scratch you are asking the same people to do more work in the same number of hours.

Hopefully the NWSL is still around after this year.

It would be sad if they couldn't keep it going but I know that a lot of the teams aren't getting good attendance.

Portland is only team that gets good turn out. Not sure what happens with the league over next couple of years.

lol it's barely the pro path on the boys side where there actually is a professional program nationally and internationally. It's all but nonexistent on the women's side, pays shi* and is running in the red all the time. 99.9999% of girls care about college soccer.

It's backed by US Soccer, USDA, NWSL Portland Thorns, US Womens's National teams program and subsidized to the tune of 8K per player/per season in Portland. Those are just a few of the reasons there isn't much interest.
