Second part of the "cancer" parent reads: a parent who's worked their way into a position of authority at the club and leverages it to promote their kid(s) above all others regardless of their merits. Examples include: coaches, DOCs, board members and temptresses

And as far as the "cancer families" comment, we all know that to be code for "I'm jealous of those people and it irritates me that they act better than we are." Deal with it. Stay at Harmony or King's Way or Prairie or Ridgefield HS and be the best of the rest.
If all of ECNL's best players come from one geography--then maybe it's not the ECNL coaches that are hot sh!t, but the coaches at WT FC or Salmon Creek or Pacific that are producing all the talent.

After all, if these programs are "horribly run", then why do they seem to consistently supply ECNL with good players?

They don't "supply" anything. The kids with potential get out as soon as they can for much better developmental opportunities at the ECNL clubs. Sometimes the wake up and make the move at U12, sometimes they don't wake up until U14, but eventually all the good ones leave WashT to become better players.

This trend has stopped. There are over 40 players from Oregon playing at W T F C

                Boys 98 State Champions

Washington Timbers 98 Boys won the Washington State Championship Cup over the weekend. Beat PacNW in the QF, Seattle United Copa in the Semi, and WPFC in the final. These are all teams that would compete with Timbers Academy and likely win most times.

Hyperbole much? They are a decent squad but not Academy good. All the best players in WA are in the Academies so WYS State Cup is really a "B" division tourney now. Still better than Oregon's "D" division tourney, but still not elite.

Team is 90% the same team that Gary O coached at WSA before the merger. Has nothing to do with Washington Timbers - this is basically WSA's final championship.

Hate to break it to you, but just because someone coached a group 4-5 or more years ago, doesn't mean they naturally stay state champion level a half decade later. That is due to the coaching that takes place from when O had them till now.

That would be a partially reasonable point had Academy players not been added to the rosters prior to state cup. Even if your assessment was 100% accurate (which it is not), that still only pulls 0, 1 maybe 2 players from a club team.

And if you actually follow soccer, you would also know that RCL1 is and has always been, better than any Oregon division... by a lot. Not close. Girls, boys, all ages, always.

I have no idea if this team would beat the Timbers Academy team, but I do know that many of the top players are not doing Academy. I'd like to see that matchup.

No matter what, there will be ugly people bashing here. Good job to the Timbers 98 team. That is an amazing accomplishment.

Spot on here expect for the fields. Why build a high end club house vs bringing in high end coaching? That would mean the higher brass at ***C would lose rank and power. It will never happen, but was a good dream.
