Perhaps they should make teams qualify for league brackets. Then you put Crossfire back with good teams and keep most of the Oregon teams that are unable to qualify with the Idaho teams and any others that might not make the cut.

Any team can play showcases somewhere and get good competition.
The league divisions are established based on geography to minimize travel. Some divisions are more competitive than others. This is nothing new. Would it be better to double or triple the travel costs so that the top 8 teams in the country are in the same division, even if they are scattered thousands of miles apart? Probably not.

No, they would not need to double or triple travel costs as there are plenty of good teams in a close proximity. For example, instead of traveling to Oregon some teams might find themselves in California more often and it would be like it was in the early days of ECNL when they were truly Elite.

Then Oregon would end up traveling to play teams that are not any better. What is the point?

What is the point for Crossfire Premier currently? At least if teams had to qualify to be in the top league truly top teams would not waste half their travel playing inferior teams. If you qualified at the team level then any club would have the opportunity to place a team. As a parent I would much prefer to have meaningful travel. It does not require coast to coast travel and wouldn't likely be a problem for most Oregon teams.

It's called "Elite Clubs" National League for a reason. Not "Elite Teams". If your DD's team is all that then they must have won FWRL, FW Regionals, USYS Nationals, and be playing in the USYS National League this year. Right?

I agree. My DD's ECNL team competes with the bottom half of the ECNL league. Idaho, Utah, sometimes Colorado. Rarely Texas, Cali or Washington. Forget about Florida or NE clubs. I'm biased enough to think that my DD is a star on the team and some of the other players are dragging the team down, but that's parent ego talk.
Regardless, paying for travel to play teams that are way out of our league, either up or down, is not really financially fulfilling for my pocketbook.
I miss the good old days of Portland League play sometimes. Tiffany didn't need DA or ECNL, did she?

States like Oregon have no business in Ecnl.

It is not different than any other league where there are different brackets or divisions and clubs play in the league but have teams that play different divisions based on their level of play.

What is wrong with this model? As it is I can promise you that the truly elite teams or clubs will likely break off soon as ECNL is just a national league with lots of average to good teams and is in fact no different than FWRL or FW Retionals or USYS nationals. Right?

It is different in that those 79 clubs develop almost half of the college players in this country. The other 2000+ clubs develop the other half. There's a reason why those 79 clubs are considered "elite" relative to the other 2000+

Don't think it existed then. If it would have she would've played it.

Okay. But what is wrong with having divisions within a single league?

Because elite doesn't sounds as good when you are in the 2nd or 3rd division LOL.

I don't think that people will pay for that. It definitely takes the elite out of elite.

There are only 79 clubs so the league is still elite you simply have to earn your spot in the league with talent. To me it solves much of the dilution issue which if not addressed will likely take the ECNL down and once again we will be back to square one and transition on the girl's side.
