Rec soccer looks like it will get a big bump in enrollment from these whining parents.

ECNL is not that expensive if you break it down to monthly payments. Think $900 or less per month. The fee increase shouldn't be much on top of that.

That is why the greatest players don't have friends and we all should strive for this for our children."
It's a reflection on parenting skills if your kid wants to play with friends. This is competitive soccer.

If your kid wants to play soccer to have fun, it is a reflection of poor parenting skills. You are at fault.
They should realize that they are part of something bigger. The USMNT needs this change.
Anyone who plays for enjoyment or with friends should be removed from the team, forcibly if need be.

are all the local clubs going to transition to birth year next year? or are they letting the high school ages continue as is? Doesn't matter to me either way. I thought everything was changing all the way through, but have hard contradictions.

What team stays together year after year? Every team my kids have been on turns over 3-6 players every year. Plus, if you play at Crossfire feeder clubs, they do a massive reorg of teams at U13 as the clubs come together. All of this whining that teams have to break up must be from parents who have teams at rec, or just above rec, level. The top teams are always replacing players each year.

We should all be honored to make strides to help the USMNT.
Anyone who questions this should be treated with great suspicion.
Soccer should be about pushing yourself through to be the best possible soccer player you can possibly be. Developing relationships with other kids, or God forbid friendships, is distracting and therefore should be off the table.
