Oregon ECNL is sub rec and $10,000 per year. Sign me up. Not.

If you have a check book, and willing to part with $, you're in!

Just because you can't afford it doesn't mean it isn't good. There is life outside of Gresham. If you can scrape together money for bus fare you should check it out sometime.

I can afford it. It's not good. But by all means, waste your cash. Least of my concerns. I would not live in Gresham. But the west side is filled with snobs who have nothing to be snobby about. You seem like one of them.

Let's hope if it comes true, it's nothing like the Thorns academy.

2 years away at a minimum and no real plan. It'll be just as DOA as the Thorns Academy was.

It's just US Soccer looking to suck in some of the money from girls soccer so they can spend more on mens soccer.

              Birmingham ECNL is pretty bad.

ECNL has become very diluted and does not serve any sort of development purpose.

USSDA will bring the cost down, eliminate posted results and focus on style of play. You think that womens soccer is good now? Wait in about 12 years. US Womens soccer has fallen behind in how the game is played. They still play like its 1999 but their pure athleticism gets them results. This new direction will help develop these players into even better players. We are not reaching our full potential with the current system.

I welcome this change along with other developmental soccer minds in this country
                  Keep dreaming!

Says it all... "and US Youth Soccer, the larger incumbent which is home to most of the country’s recreational players but also offers elite competitions....."

This isn't Field of Dreams simple ... if you build it they will come. With ECNL clubs generating massive amounts of talent, simplifying recruiting, and scheduling competitive leagues the DA are pretty much going to have to bridge ECNL and any foreseeable DA structure. In 2 years you don't just miraculously pop out one structure and pop in a new one. I cant wait to see the plan, the clubs, the curriculum, the league. And I dont think its as easy as "just mirror the boys". How long did it take to put up that apparatus????

Agreed. Clubs may jump quickly (and which clubs join is very important) but will the talent? Ecnl has many flaws but to their end consumer it delivers what folks want - college placements

Players want great coaching and strong non dis functional team mates. Parents want a status symbol.

Unless you are Oregon ECNL. Not a lot of placement. The top girls may see PSU but then you have to settle for a 3rd tier education.
