    Ecnl is going bye bye

I welcome the USSDA in taking ECNL over. Now we can get some true development going.

ECNL has become very diluted and does not serve any sort of development purpose.

USSDA will bring the cost down, eliminate posted results and focus on style of play. You think that womens soccer is good now? Wait in about 12 years. US Womens soccer has fallen behind in how the game is played. They still play like its 1999 but their pure athleticism gets them results. This new direction will help develop these players into even better players. We are not reaching our full potential with the current system.

I welcome this change along with other developmental soccer minds in this country

Except that it's not happening. You can keep dreaming about your DD's Timbers club being a big shot someday but the truth is that even US Soccer is smart enough to know you're not even up to rec level.

Fast forward 6 months and they are hands down the best GU14 team in Oregon. What happened to all the Timbers teams? Couldn't keep up? Bootball not working anymore? Last year for most Timbers GU14 teams anyway. Only about 10% survive the end of middle school.

                    no link yet.

I heard it from two Surf Academy Coaches.

                    I'm stoked!
this is going to help the game out so much.

What is so good about the USSDA is that they personally evaluate each club to make sure the clubs are following strict guidelines....each year every USSDA gets audited by the technical brains. US Soccer has just hired some of the top minds on the planet to expand this process and they have created even more strict guidelines.

all I can say is that your clubs better have over qualified DOC's, Executive Directors that have a great sense of managing money and resources, have a curriculum that is strictly followed, documentation of every session your team does, have a phisolphy that follows US Soccer and most importantly understand that development outweighs results so you can throw away those stupid links that show the results between clubs.

this is exciting times, US Soccer is actually moving in the right direction.

Something that if ECNL did, they sure wouldn't keep CU as a club. Clearly, ECNL has low standards.

that is why US Soccer is stepping in. ECNL has become diluted and its focus is on competition and results. The standards aren't low, the standards just are not what US Soccer is looking for.

and don't look at CU as a club that will fail due to the new standards with which they will be reviewed by. Look at it as an opportunity for clubs to begin to do things right to make players better. To move away from results which is parent driven to a more developmental model is going to help out tremendously. Results should begin at 18 years old. Outside of that nothing should be posted.

Keep dreaming. You still won't get your lame Timbers Alliance club in.

So having just 79 teams across the entire country is "very diluted"? There are age groups with nearly that many teams just in Oregon. Now THAT is "very diluted".

US Soccer and ECNL have two very different purposes. US Soccer is looking to feed the USWNT. ECNL is all about getting top players identified and recruited by colleges. A lot more players will go to college than will ever play for the USWNT so ECNL will still be the #1 national league by far.
