I would say that ECNL is terrible. ECNL teams are coached by the same level of coaching that the TA has. I've seen the sessions that the ECNL coaches run. Let's be honest with ourselves. You pay $9k to play for the same coach that was coaching in the OPL league....you could be paying $2k to be coached by the same dude and playing here locally....and you don't get your arse handed to you each game. Trust me, those college scouts are not there to watch the Oregon teams players....don't forget, your DD and 90% of the other Oregon ECNL players will be playing college ball within 150 miles from home. You don't need ECNL to close that deal.

Pay attention next time your DD plays. Those coaches watching and evaluating are only looking at the top 1% that is on the field. They are not there to watch your DD
Hey 150 Mike guy (glass is always half empty guy),
A couple of things: I am only paying $2,000/year for coaching. What is expensive is to travel to events and I would still have most of those cost if I was doing OPL. Better take a closer look but most of the girls are venturing beyond your radius. I do pay attention to the coaches and you know if they are watching your team when they come back 2-3x in the same event.

Answer me this: why are the local ECNL girls getting recruited at a clip of more than 5:1 vs non ECNL players from Oregon?

His response will be: "See 1 in 5 girls are not ECNL and are still being recruited locally for at least this year.

you are paying $2k for the same level of coaching you had during non-ECNL times.
There are no ECNL level coaches in the area.

your 5:1 ratio is waaaaay off. It is dead even. For every girl that gets picked up to play in college you have one non ECNL player getting picked up.

as the 150 mile guy I will tell you that 80%+ play within 150 miles from home. You don't need ECNL to play for those teams.

Find me a roster that says otherwise.

The facts don't support your opinion. You would think that the TA clubs would have at least 15-17 names on this list. The gap will get wider

The Timbers clubs always say that. In reality, FC/THUSC/Crossfire are where you want to be if you want to drastically increase your chances of playing college ball.

How can the Timbers clubs put girls in college when they rarely even have girls HS teams?

Spread the cost over a full year it's not bad. FC Portland charges a surcharge on travel costs.

Parent travel is on top of that.

Dude, there are 104 high school teams in OYSA.
Trust me, I've been doing this for 21 years. There will be almost as many kids in the non ECNL world that play college soccer as ECNL teams

Hey 150 mile guy you are wrong! 21 years who cares, this is only the second year of ECNL and you are already wrong. Nobody trusts you!!!

If "almost" in your 21 years equals 5:1 for ECNL, than you would be right.

If you take the $8000 per year for encl and invest it you would be in great shape come sophomore year of college.

The "elite" club league is really expensive.

Considering ECNL in Oregon has only been around for two years. How many of these girls in your 5:1 ratio actually committed verbally or signed prior to ECNL. Your true argument won't be valid until the 01's start committing.

Like all other sports the kids have to put themselves out there and advocate for themselves, contact coaches, send in video and email. If you are good and a college level athlete you will get noticed if you put yourself out there. No matter who you play for. College coaches go to ECNL events and to Non ECNL events compare the lists at the different tourneys.

Yep, about $500 more per year than your OYSA TA team. Assuming your OYSA TA club still has girls HS teams that is. Most don't.

The 2017 class is probably the first class that schools start seriously recruiting when they are sophomores. This class has substantially received more comittments than the non-ECNL and the ratio is far greater than 5:1 (probably 10:1). I know for a fact that a majority of these schools hadn't even seen the girls play until an ECNL event.

Look at most Pac 12 rosters and you will find that 7 out of 10 players on their roster are ECNL alumni. You are correct if you are good and you do the work a coach will find you, my point is college coaches spend a majority of their time at ECNL events. In fact my daughter's school says they now recruit exclusively at ECNL events because they are gaurunteed to find 5-7 players per year and they also get the opportunity to watch their commitments
