Is this related to the poster who said this event was to 'cover' you bases?

meaning if you can't win the USYS/OYSA state cup and advance to the national championship series, then you have a backup NPL tourney to cover your bases?

as stated before to cover bases. But also, at least previously, it was used to experiment. Get bench players time, take teams and play up. You don't need to drive to grants pass to do that.

Yeah, but THUSC took one of their teams down to SoCal last year expecting some competition and beat the USYS National Champion at their own house. So I'm not sure that USYS is all that. I mean really? Lose to an Oregon team that at the time wasn't even an ECNL team? C'mon.... USYS isn't anything special at all. I mean it was their National Champ? Ranked No. 1 in Cali. It was a bit of a let down. Could've just save their money and stayed here to play some hyped up TA team.

The World cup isn't anything special at all. I mean it was the World Champion. #1 Ranked team in the World. It was a bit of let down. So is the Zirconium team, what's your point? That Legends team had just won the Natl. Championship in a league that you have to "earn your way to the Championship" and they were playing a US Club Soccer team from "mediocre Oregon" .... funny how there's always an excuse when a USYS powerhouse team from powerhouse So Cal loses to one of those mediocre Oregon teams that never have to earn their way to anything. I guess I just like pointing out the complete BS that is spewed by the few "know it alls" on this site. Actually pretty much anyone who knows anything about club soccer, does not waste any significant amount of time on here. Because it's just full of rookie parents that know nothing about what they talk about.

Well, the Cleveland Browns once went to Pittsburgh and played the Steelers and beat them 7-0 and at the time the Steelers werre No. 1 and Cleveland was on a 5 game losing streak....
