OYSA convinces OPL to shut down their Fall league

Got the email today that the FALL OPL has ceased operation.

The fractured and confusing landscape the upstart OPL had created, is no more.

All of our club teams will now register for state wide league play under the USYS banner, basically back to where we started.

We humbly wave the white flag and look forward to being part of the USYS family again.

You mean the fractured and confusing landscape the Timbers created is now being repaired by the big 3 clubs. Hope the Timbers Alliance clubs got their fill of easy wins and trophies. Won't win many more now.

Old news. Posted on OPL site hours ago. Read the letter. Higher costs. More spam from the Timbers. No agreements. Is this really better?

Oregon's arm of the USYS-OYSA has been serving the state with leagues and national championship series events since 1975. The OPL was a splinter group of clubs who wanted to cede from all OYSA competition. The move did not have any traction or widespread support and they became known as the cul-de-sac league due to their views on travel and playing league/cup competitions against very few clubs in a small geographic area.

The Portland Timbers are a professional Men's team in the 20 year old Major League Soccer with teams in major markets throughout North America.

Kudos to the OYSA for having an environment attractive and democratic enough for all the kids to play and compete.

Welcome back home to the few clubs who got with the program, that it's a game for KIDS!

Given the lack of leadership, support and planning needed to continue a rouge league statewide, the OPL decided it was smart move to quit. Smart move.

So you got the Timbers propaganda email then. Not the real goods posted on a website for all to see. Typical Timbers BS.

TA clubs won't think so when the wins suddenly dry up now that the good teams are back in the same league.

                Letter written from our DOC.

Hardly relevant or accurate to read anything produced by the propaganda machines of the OPL or TiMBERS.

Better to get the facts. OPL ceased operation and let their member clubs decide what league to join in the future. Our DOC has informed us we are re-joining the OYSA.

What the heck this has to do with Timbers or the OPL is really irrelevant as the OYSA is again the competitive home for all of Oregon and SW Washington soccer players.

Congrats on the Victory OYSA and the KIDS!

In an effort to make up for keeping the team registration fees in OPL controlled money market accounts, that were actually shared monies of current and former OPL clubs, the OPL has decided to refund over $77,000 directly to those former OPL clubs general memberships.

                  The OPL finally gets it.

Blown away by the humility and about face actions , this was part of the OYSA accepting the few clubs left in the OPL back to the OYSA.

Talk about retribution and fair play. WOW!

Thanks to the OYSA for letting these clubs back into the league! It's a relief for our family to know that our kids will get the chance to play in a state wide classic league. Appreciated!

Can someone post the Timbers email? Curious what they have to say, would be nice to get both sides as all we have gotten is the OPL release and our DOC's email.

Good. Now we can quit with all the caterwauling about this league or that and get back to important topics like, why do we have to drive to Grants Pass for a rec. game?

OYSA didn't do anything. Timbers run the league. Get ready for a barrage of Timbers propaganda once they get your email address. Oh, and better take out a loan to pay the higher fees.

And you ignore the fact that it was WST to led the exit and formation of the OPL. How stupid are you?

The Timbers are fleeting youth soccer. How else do you explain the increase in costs? It's the Timbers pocketing money from youth soccer. It's always been about money.

The whole professional bullsh1t is such a joke. The Timbers are run by the same amatures who have been coaching in Portland for decades. Putting an MLS patch on their shoulders doesn't make them pros...... Or legitimate pros.
