I'm with a TA team, we always pay the travel expenses for trips out of the Portland metro area. Bend, Eugene, Medford.... outside the 'tuky, westside, eastside boundaries.

      Saved $30

We did the math on our Savings for the Winter Cul de Sac League.

The 4 trips we don't have to do now, would of cost us $8 each trip, that would of gone towards the Carpool ride for our daughter in her friends Van that takes 4 other girls.

This was not the reason we elected to stay in cul de sac league.

We were never given the option of anything else.

It's not like we weighed the chance of playing outside the neighborhood vs playing teams in Salem, Woodburn, Bend, Vancouver, Beaverton, Gresham, Eugene or Medford home or away.

This decision was not ours to make, we just do as our club does.

As they have done so much for us year after year.

      We Love it!

Whoa some of the point differentials. Is this soccer or Lacrosse?

Understand this is just a question for the OPL leadership.

We don't belong to another league ECNL, OYSA, WSYSA or the Baker City youth soccer association.

Stay focused on our reality-we could care less about where your team has to travel and play. We only know we are stuck playing our neighbors which we did for 5 years in Rec soccer.

So, if it's actually rec soccer why are we be charged classic pricing?

          Fair Question.
This is league. League is only part of the 11 months of soccer that these kids are sighning up for. All Summer they play in tournaments against teams from all over. As they get older they will do showcases out of state as well. We are supposed to travel for league too?

Are these U16 - U18? As they get older they will go off to college or play in an indoor soccer league. Both of which can be a lot of fun.

If we continue to play just each other in the culdesac year after year it wouldn't make sense to pay for travel to play other recreational teams in other states, just a waste of money. Don't know of any showcases for recreational teams. Maybe you do.

We are suppose to get better and develop in a state wide premier classic league so we can have a chance of competing when we do fork over the coin to travel out of state for a competitive tournament..

Don't have to travel ever now. Brilliant.

Nothing new with OPL. Their mantra has always been "No parent's money is safe from our marketing." And "What is Soccer, we focus on $"

Wow, Mad TA guy must be writing scripts now. I think he wrote and responded to himself in 90 percent of this thread, that or someone else is driving to OYSA league games while he sits in the passenger seat writing this crap down. Very funny.

Yes the carpool, that does save money. Nothing like paying 2,000 a year so you can miss your kid play 4 games. Plus, they don't get burnt out on those long trips to play 70 minutes of soccer. Unless you team cannot find any competition, why do you need to travel so far for a stupid league game? Maybe a tournament where you are getting 3-4 games in the weekend.

If you look at the schedules, both leagues end up playing the same teams in Spring that they played in Fall. Probably more so with the Premier Division of OYSA.

OPL has less teams, so they appear to mix the leagues a little more, so you might get a different team in the Spring.

I will take the less travel for a stupid league game. Especially since Spring is just a scrimmage and means nothing. It's time to look at some B players.

OYSA is just defensive because that's all they have, oh and the Thorns. Whoop whoop.

For a State that can barely field enough teams to form (1) competitive Premier league for 6 to 8 teams at a given age and gender why do we have (2) so-called State wide Premier leagues? OPL & OYSA. The only reason the OPL doesn't have teams from Eugene, Saleme, Bend and Southern Oregon is they left for the OYSA. 2 years ago they were all part of the OPL.

Eugene, Salem, Bend and Southern Oregon field at least 1 to 3 teams that are in the top 8 of most age and genders each year.

Breaking off the 2nd and 3rd tier club teams into Regional area play is sensible and accommodates the classic/recreational player/family desires. But, then the Eugene, Salem, Bend and Southern Oregon teams are left playing themselves, which is really unfortunate.

People from Portland to Eugene at least 4 to 6 times to watch a College football game in the Fall, but don't want to drive possibly once a year to Eugene for their child's game.?

A wave of common sense is starting to take over with the mass influx o the former (OPL only) club teams joining the OYSA leagues this Winter and Spring.

Whatever the OPL league dwindles down to in number of teams and whatever their mission statement devolves or adjusts too, is just plain fun to listen to.

Now you've gone too far. Please don't compare a Ducks football game to my dd's soccer game, no matter how Premiere or Elite it is.

                              You nailed it.

It's not that important (DUCK GAME) compared to your child's game.

With that said ,a meaningless college football game in Eugene, is something the parents of a LOSC would rather do?

                              Is this really the case?

Just because the league is called Elite, the Oregon clubs are far from it. ECNL clubs that is. And 90% of the players in it are far from it. They should rename it to ACNL, replacing the Elite with Average.
