Oregon ECNL teams are not even stepping to the plate so the opportunity to even achieve this is mute, which is just SAD.

You would think, logically these ECNL teams would showcase their team and PLAYERS in these events vs a paid showcase.

You seem to forget (or never knew) that ECNL is "not about the teams" and "team championships". It's all about individual player development and showcasing of individual players to as many college coaches as possible. There is no better platform for getting exposure to college coaches than ECNL showcases. None.

The USSDA is the best platform
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostWhy is that logical? Because you think it is? How exactly do you expect the ECNL teams to participate in the OYSA State Cup? Is OYSA just going to let them in? NO. You have to "qualify" by playing in the OYSA league. If you think the Thorns Academy thumping everybody 8-0 is bad now, just think how bad 20-0 scores would be with the ECNL teams obliterating everybody else. Yeah, that would be great for Oregon soccer!

ECNL chose not to given the opportunities presented to them. Once your "player" with your "team" wins the Oregon State Cup and plays at the Region IV championship, your "player" will get as much exposure or even more vs a paid showcase. This allows your "player" to even say on their Soccer Resume - State Cup Winning team, Region IV participant, Region IV champion, USYSA National participant, USYSA National champion. This will show recruiters the progression how your "player" is a team player to get from PDX->State->Regional->Nationals. Again, thats clear logical on how showcase your "player". Soccer is a team sport.

Serious question
What will happen to the ECNL league when the USSDA is up and running for girls.

Why do you think ECNL teams like SD Surf compete in Region IV FarWest Regional after winning their State Cup - To say they did and get team/player recognition!
Oregon ECNL teams are not even participating from the gate so why would a recruiter look at a player that doesn't even compete in that arena. Until then, Oregon ECNL will not get respect.

the ECNL teams are not guaranteed to win the Oregon State Cup....the ECNL clubs are smart by not doing state cup because they are afraid of losing players.
I think that only the U17's would win state cup
