If at least a handful of Onyx players don't go D1, there isn't much hope for the rest of Oregon "talent". We live in our little pond and tend to think our best are also the best in the nation. Rarely the case but it happens enough (Onyx) that it keeps the dream alive. I'm always surprised by the number of Oregon GU11-U13 parents who think their kids have a seriously great shot at a full ride to Stanford & then off to the USWNT. "She's only 11 and she's doing great at the US Training Center trainings. We've got her in private trainings, she does every camp & she's the best player on her OYSA/OPL team! She plays just like Alex Morgan! Our family lives soccer but it's totally worth it! We will spend every last cent & minute of time to ensure her dream of World Cup gold!" Everyone thinks their kid is the exception to the rule. It keeps the dream alive & money flowing into the clubs.

The fact that people hate on Onyx girls or any girl from any club is embarrassing & has a bit of a creepy factor to it.
We don't have a mass of talent but we do have talent & not every talented player at Stanford or UCLA is a Mia Hamm, so please don't come back & spew more ridiculous comments about how talented players from Oregon aren't this or that.
The girls who go onto be successful deserve respect, heck all these girls who spend the amount of time training, playing, going to high school, traveling, get good grades deserve respect.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostI doubt it. Top girls across this age group have spots already. HS ruins Oregon. Cali girls were playing in front of coaches all fall and have or will be getting offers. Our girls are four months behind them.
There may be less exposure during August-November than you are implying.
