    Okay if you say so.

High school soccer, including 6A, is worse than awful. Went last night to watch Lincoln play Jesuit. His daughter played until last year at Lincoln. Good game to watch except for inept, at times, officiating and strange coaching. One player for Jesuit that appeared to let in 2 goals was not a good defense player. Lincoln players began attacking her. Jesuit coach did nothing to solve the obvious problem. Jesuit also seemed to play zone defense on corner kicks, didn't work at all. Poor coaching of what appeared to be talented players. Lincoln coach made odd appearing choices as well. Lack of proper use of talent by coaches seemed obvious to me.

So Southridge beat Central 15-1 last night. Why would Southridge schedule a bad 5A team(I think they were 4A last year) and why would they put up 15 goals on them? Seems like really bad form to me.

You're saying that you kept stats on a player other than your own DD a few years back?

So you just admitted that there is talented players, and some bad coaching. That would describe alot of youth soccer. That doesn't make it "worse than awful" I suppose your a TA parent, alot of TA coaches are coaching 6a hs. Are they crappy coaches as well?

Yes, thank you, for posting. If a HS is going to schedule a patsy in the pre-season, take it into account and play accordingly.

Pretty low class if you ask me.

Do you really think coaching has that much to do with it in High School? It isn't as though they develop together or that they even train that much together. Many schools prefer to play everyone, especially their seniors irrespective of how talented they are. It makes sense from a high school perspective but sucks from a spectator perspective. Enjoy your high school soccer and don't worry about what people think.

One super good thing about high school soccer is that if your child is a good club player then they are a rock star on the high school team.

I guess you are a little more qualified than the Jesuit coach who happens to be a former OSU coach.

Sure coaching has alot to do with it. My argument to the overweight guy that couldn't kick a soccer ball if he had to was because he likes to call things like he could. Most of these girls practice and train all year long, maybe not the same team. My point is I don't think HS soccer is as bad as this guy likes to make it out to be. Sure it's not club, but it certainly isn't "awful"

I think what happens is that little Suzie gets on her high school team and stands out for the first time and all the sudden Mamma and Papa Bear think this is the best soccer ever and that little Suzie finally made the big time.
I have not seen Summit play live so I cannot speak for their abilities and their talent.

I have seen quite a few of the Metro League teams play both last fall and this fall as well as few of the other greater Portland area teams too (Grant/Lincoln/Tualatin/Lake Oswego/Lakeridge/Sherwood)....

I would say most, if not all of the Metro League teams' rosters are primarily made up of Club players (whether it be Crossfire/LO/Southside, THUSC or FC PDX and maybe a few T/S Westside players)---so, in reality, you have the kids that play for their high school teams that may play on club teams with girls that they are going against, week in and week out.

I know that Sunset/Westview/Beaverton as well as Jesuit are all predominantly made up of club players. Sunset is playing their best players....not just seniors.....as a matter of fact, most of the players have some sort of an Onyx connection or FC PDX connection)---there are quite a few FC players on Westview as well as both FC and THUSC players for Jesuit and Beaverton too.

Yes, high school soccer is NOT as elegant or 'pretty' as classic or club soccer but to say it's awful is a stretch because you are then inferring that club/classic soccer is awful too. You are getting a few good/quality players at each school.....thus, the sum of the parts is NOT equal to their entire club team. To say 6A high school soccer is 'awful' is a disservice and not fair to those girls.

I didn't say they are awful just that I don't prefer it. I agree that it is a disservice to the 6a high school players and not fair. It is also unfair to dis on the 5A players or 4A players and so forth. There are some very good players and honestly geography is the primary determination of where your child will play even if you have the $$ to send to Jesuit. Not everyone wants their kids driving across the metroplex every day. It increases opportunity for accidents, costs money in gas and infringes on the already overloaded schedule with travel time. We are in agreement but the mop flops both ways.

Most High school players come from CLUB teams. You always remember the best team and the worst. Are there any stats you would like me to pull up for you? Cause you know I am a tool and this is my life.

Grant beating Sunset was a bit of a shocker.

Well no one should be shocked going forward, Grant dominated this game!
