    Finally it was said

Legally the reserve should belong to all of the original OPC members...this includes the clubs that were forced out...the next six months should be interesting. AH might want to polish up her resume...
    It this "legal' or 'illegal'.

Waiting for that turn and its a hard left.

You might want to rethink your post. Buying lunch for a team is not spending like mad. The reserve money does NOT belong to member clubs. EST, WST, and PCU were voted out in accordance to the OPL by laws because the LEFT THE OPL! They had a conflict of interest and were no longer active.

Everyone knows that the split was about money. Gavin has been quoted wanting the OPL money. Why would the Timbers want the OPL's money?

Think hard before you make false accusations. Think about why a for profit business is running a non profit. Think about the potential tax fraud activities associated with that. Think about why the Timbers raised league fees so much this year. Why gave player cards gone up? Why does ODP still cost so much? Why does the Timbers profit from all the little TA kids running around in their little MLS kits (the Timbers het a kickback for them)?

You might want to think about who is breaking the law here in Oregon.

You might focus a little more at home and quit buying OPL's line about the Timbers. They are distracting you while they drain the reserves.

The Timbers contract to OYSA to operate their competitive leagues. You can view the contract online... It has been posted here before, sorry no conspiracy.

OPL on the other hand has no transparency, but has argued for many years that while they had a sizable reserve they couldn't access it. Now all of a sudden as they are gasping for their last breath they start throwing money everywhere. A two foot long receipt for lunch must have covered a whole restaurant and been several thousand dollars. Allowing all teams who played to return and pay no league fees?

So tell me where is this money coming from? Either they are choosing to operate at a loss, not good for long term viability. They are spending the new ECNL cash flow, seems misdirected, or they are accessing the reserve. If they are accessing the reserve Westside Eastside and PCU have very real legal claims to there share of that money. They had an ownership position, see definition of mutual benefit corporation, that position doesn't go away when they are voted out of active membership. To truly remove them they need to be compensated equivalent to their share.

Of course expect all sorts of excuses and distractions to go up from OPL, they don't want people to see what they are doing. ECNL can operate independently of OPL, if I was one of the new ECNL teams I would run from OPL as fast as I could. They are a sinking ship.

This was the ODP event in Medford. I am sure the Portland area had to buy lunch or something. They provided Hotel with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not sure how they divided it with Washington and California, but wouldn't it make sense that Portland was on the hook for some of that. 120 kids for 3 days. Just trying to use some common sense. I will apologize up front for that.

Sorry, I had wrong event. It was for "OPL Player Academy PDP" in Medford with California and Washington teams.

Ok, what is the OPL Player Academy? And what is PDP? Sorry for my naivete, but I suspect there are others who don't know what this is either. How does one get selected to participate too?

Free program for players. Players recommended by their club DOC's.

So based upon politics. Kiss the DOCs butt, you get selected.

The interesting aspect about this is that if a player proposed by a DOC isn't up to standard they can be dropped from the training pool after a certain time period. This is at the discretion of the age group coaching staff.

Exactly. Like everything else in youth soccer, skills and capability only carry you so far, the rest of the journey is acheived by butt kissing and other various means to carry sway with those in charge. And by the way, this is the same regardless of OYSA or OPL or Timbers or any other organization. The modus is to wrentch money out of the masses, siphon off some along the way for your own set agenda and then provide the benefits to select few. I've had kids involved in OPL and had no idea this program exists. I've had kids in ODP and found that there wasn't always rhyme or reason to who made regional holdover much less national camp and all of the other camps that they have out there. Not to mention the traning centers, ID2, .... you name it.

Hey Oregon soccer, you want to improve things, try being more transparent with what's out there and the selection processes, especially when you are funding these things with the parent's money. I'm talking to you Erik, Cony, John Bain, Tom Atencio, Garrett Smith, Fraser, .... and every other DOC and person who is in charge out there.

LOL! You MUST work for the Timbers. The OPL never said they couldn't access their reserves. They simply did t know what to do with them. Ask the DOCs from WST, EST, and PCU why they never had any ideas. That is 3 of 8 votes right there. Ask John Bain why nothing happened while he was the president of the OPC. The answer is bad leadership.

Now the OPL is providing a free season. Their reserves can easily handle this and there is nothing wrong with what they are doing. of course the Timbers don't like it. They continue to increase the cost of soccer while the OPL is trying to reduce it.

i am not saying this is right, nor am i defending "politics", but have you lived in the real world? do you not know that everything happens, in USA and Mexico, and the all envied Europe (envied as far as futbol goes), are political too? did you not see, Bradley's comments on why there are not more American players on elite teams in Europe?

                                http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/1679/...due-to-lack-of

or his dad's comments on the same issue.

everything is politics, how do you think the CEO of your company got hired? (I know, you're going to say you run your own company. How do you think you got where you are?) how do you think the DOC got hired? how do you think your superstar player is going to get that college scholarship?

your player needs to be unquestionably the best player on the field. then, they MIGHT get a chance to overcome politics. if they're just one of the better players. coaches go with what they know. is that actually politics?
