Hopefully OPL has minutes that show Mr. Bain recused himself from any of the decision processes, and disclosed this conflict of interest.

The reality is any liability will fall on the organization not on the individual.

Too bad there aren't some better coaching options for some of the teams.

Not true at all. Go look up personal liability for non profits.

Yeah. Really should bring in all those amazing TA coaches. Good grief!

WARNING: Conflicts that are not managed can result in significant penalties to the person who benefits and to the organization, called "intermediate sanctions." (See IRS information on excess benefit transactions and inurement/private benefit that can result in penalties called intermediate sanctions.) - See more at: http://www.councilofnonprofits.org/c....S3s2qbiP.dpuf

Any non-profit worth its salt carries E&O insurance on their directors. This insurance would cover the individual with the organization being left to pay.

Good luck unravelling the whole OPL mess to show that Bain received personal benefit as a result of your imagined Conflict of Interest.

Bain essentially colluded with the Timbers while president of the OPL. He directed money toward them via that illegitimate contract and then failed to adequately uphold his position as president when the Timbers split competitive youth soccer. He pretty much defrauded the OPL while president acting on behalf of the Timbers.

None of what is described however is a conflict of interest.

Your whole complaint is coming from hindsight as OPL is no longer satisfied with the result, however during the course of the process, I suspect there was not this perspective.

Keep telling yourself that. You're wrong. Bain's interests conflicted and he failed to disclose them. He also lacked the integrity to represent the OPL wile president. He led them to waste money with the Timbers which was probably planned from the start and then to led the exit of the TA clubs. Both Bain and the Timbers are culpable and liable.

My DD has no idea what has gone on behind the scenes in Oregon soccer, as it should be IMO. We are happy with the club and the competition her team has had given we live in Oregon. She has been given every opportunity to play at any level she desires whether it's playing with the other girls in her local school, trying out for a stronger and more dedicated club team, taking the next step and trying our for the state ODP team or more recently, attending tryouts for the academy and ECNL. It's unfortunate the split happened, but opportunities still exist for our kids. Find them and let your kid play the game and enjoy it. In the meantime, voice your opinions at the meetings. To complain on TS over and over is insane. Want change? Get involved. "You can't play ball if you don't hang out."

You have no idea what John Bain was thinking. Perhaps he had a larger vision, no one else seems to. Your whole statement is based around you being angry about the outcome so you assign motivations to someone after the fact.

In every interaction I have had with JB he has been focused on identifying what is good for everyone, that is hard to do, and it can be even harder to execute, especially with your ilk and your conspiracy theories.

You seem to know so much let's see the OPC board minutes so you can prove how each of these "interests" came at the same time. Following a chain of decisions is not a conflict of interest. You need to be pushed from both sides simultaneously.

A more apt conflict of interest is Tom and Fraser giving away the farm to get ECNL, neglecting their responsibilities to OPC in order to pursue this personal vendetta against Gavin. This is actually a triple conflict of interest because what did THUSC lose with the merger to crossfire.

Boy, isn't this about the most accurate statement that this board has seen in a LONG time.

John Bain has never been the DOC of Westside Metros or the Westside Timbers. His is the Director of Operations for the club a title and job duty he has had with this club for around 7 years. Constantine Constin has been the head Director of Coaching of the WSM/WST for the past 11 years not John Bain.

It's sometimes helps to have at least an idea of who does what for a club.

Whatever.....John Director of Oprtations and coach. That doesn't reduce his conflict of interest.
