This is not a negotiation it is a PRODUCT ROLL OUT. Marketing experts would tell you it's important to tease the target market with tidbits and facts that get them excited (aka Advertising). The T/T's have done just the opposite despite being faced with direct competition!

Kind of like what Apple does. iPhone 6? This strategy seems to work for them.

But by not announcing their tryout dates, they are adding in just as much uncertainty. So a girl gets an offer from CU, are they going to turn it down in hopes that FC has a tryout and that she makes it? And she won't know who is at that tryout and who might be on that team. Those are important factors. FC needs to be held just as accountable for not putting out their tryout information.

So now they have their dates before CU. Trying to jump the gun a little. That's hilarious.

Of course, if your dd has been playing in the local league for a couple of years, the coaches at that age group probably know her and if she's any good. Garrett will probably just ask Lisa who she thinks are the top players at U16 and base a lot of the decision on that.

What fault? You're a real idiot aren't you. It was merely commentary that they are now holding tryouts before Crossfire. Originally, the rumor was tryouts in August to coincide with normal tryouts. Then word got out that the Academy planned on tryouts in July. So CU put thier tryouts late June and early July. So FC puts theirs in late June and the first of July. And they have only two tryouts and they don't state that you should plan on attending both unlike CU who says you should try to attend all four.

CU ECNL goes second, gives some an offer, signs a few.

Thorns Academy goes last, gets the leftovers, fills one team from two ages groups.

Apparently you haven't spoken with a number of parents at U16. Not every family has the money for ECNL. Including a number of girls on the ECNL designated teams. Notice how many people have discussed scholarships for club and travel fees? That scholarship money isn't going to cover everyone that wants it. You can put down FWRL, FWR, Surf, Las Vegas, Colorado, .... but there is good soccer in these tournaments and leagues and lots of colleges. And plus, the training is going to be better. Better resources, more coaches, different techniques. But I know you will put all that down, while thinking that the existing coaches who have coached in club for years will not be super coaches because they are doing ECNL. I guess we will see when tryouts come around in a couple of weeks how things go.

I'm not putting down Surf as it's still a top tournament, and Vegas is pretty good as well. There is no guarantee the Academy team will get into Surf, though. The other tournaments aren't anything worth talking about. I don't believe the training will be better simply because they have better resources and more coaches. If my kid is getting coaching from some of the Alliance coaches, with better resources, I would still say no thanks. Yes the Academy will be cheaper, but does that mean better? I don't believe so...but as you said, I guess we will see soon how things shake up.
