I like your confidence in your existing FCP teams. You're right, you don't need anyone else to compete at the highest level. Everyone knows all the best U15-U18 girls in Portland are already at your club.

I'm sure CU will be more then happy to take anyone else interested in ECNL.

why not merge Thusc CF United and FC Portland? You'd probably have a very tough team at a lot of age levels.

Portland Timbers should have merged with the Seattle Sounders after their first year too.

Why merge something that hasn't even started yet? Predicting doom too soon.

Part of the reason for the two teams is for travel purposes. If you travel you get to play more then one team.

My point was that my spreading the talent between two encl teams and the thorns academy, it will be hard to field competitive teams. They will all be good, obviously, but to get be successful nationally, we need more consolidation.

It's hard to believe that FC is going to wait until after CU goes and makes selections. At that point, if you have an offer from CU, I'm not sure why you wouldn't take it.

But by not announcing their tryout dates, they are adding in just as much uncertainty. So a girl gets an offer from CU, are they going to turn it down in hopes that FC has a tryout and that she makes it? And she won't know who is at that tryout and who might be on that team. Those are important factors. FC needs to be held just as accountable for not putting out their tryout information.

What ages & Who will they play?

If the academy gets the team that they want, then that team will be good. And will be good out of state. It will be significantly better than the ECNL teams at that age group.

Let's assume that you are correct that "price" will dictate the volume of quality players for the TWO planned teams. Who are they going to play?

The problem comes when your WAKE up to the fact that the Academy "rumor" talked about U17 & U18 teams. Well I can tell you with 100% certainty that they will not be able to put together a "better" U17 or U18 team than either the CU or FCP.

Where does that leave the WST/TS U16's and the better players at that age? What about the top players at U15 and U14?


Not going to either of the ECNL tryouts and seeing if your DD has what it takes to get the invite is a big mistake if you have the money because we know NOTHING about the Academy.....nuuuuuuhting.

If you don't have the money I truly understand and you should be burning EL's phone line up pressing him to announce the program.

If there was something to as you say "know" why has it not been published?

As for my knowledge of the older age groups I'll bet my Lexus against your Pick up that the Academy teams could not beat the CU or FCP 17's or the CU 18's unless you get 3 plus from each team to play for the academy which would be a good trick since those players have not participated in ODP for years
