Lets keep this talk up! Enjoying a few nice comments in a row. Best of luck to both ECNL clubs as they take on this new challenge, and to the girls!

Good luck to all players no matter what path they take. Ultimately, it comes down to the player and their dedication that gets them where they want to go not the club....but new avenues are available (ECNL clubs) and maybe more to come (Thorns Academy). All are good for Oregon.

How many ECNL league games have you seen?

I think people are right. Too man ecnl salesman willing to say dumb stuff to hopefully get enough kids to play. I suppose when it costs so much, you have to get people to see beyond logic.

Sad people. Go sell avon makeup instead.
I will readily acknowledge not every ECNL team is better than some of the power how local clubs in their area. However the vast majority ARE better than anything we have here except that once every five years team like NEON, IRELAND or ONYX. So the question is how do we deliver the opportunity for more of our DD's to play against the best of the best and be seen by the entire collegiate recruiting base?

The answer for those that have the money is ECNL. Again not the only answer but unless your DD is in the ODP hold over or National pool the ECNL is her best bet to perfect her game and be seen in the process.

This "My DD didn't have to do this" attitude is not only disingenuous but myopic. Great your kid's a star and or her new school needed her position filled in her year but that is only ONE player out of 30 each year that are looking to play in college.

You need a job or something besides recruiting for your kids carpool. Most of what you said are lies or rhetoric and coming from a really short sided viewpoint. Your kid hasn't been through this, I understand and you are freaking out because you see them not meeting your expectations. Ecnl isn't going to bring them to life, it's going to burn them out. Not on soccer but having to listen to you think you know a little about a lot.

We didn't pay 32k over 4 years. We didn't even spend 16k. My kid just was on a decent club team and spent her time not on it, training with her team or another one in the club. It only took 2 showcases at u16 to finalize by u17. Sure ecnl would be fun but don't anyone tell you that is makes you a better player than non ecnl or a better chance.

Once you get to u17 and you can't be bs anymore by other parents or even coaches, you'll understand its all a big rat race and just as much as odp isn't the most important thing, at some point people think this is now.

Good luck to the people doing both and quit trying to sell people either way.
I agree with you completely. The crazy ecnl idiot on here literally is saying everything to get people to join him. If it was so great they wouldn't have to try so hard.

You saying this is good for people who don't buy the make up sales of the one idiot on here.

You don't have to do ecnl to play at a top school and those who say you do have literally no clue beyond the bs they were fed to get them to write a check . They ll figure it out in a few years.

Not only does my DD do ECNL but she is reaping the rewards on the field and in the recruiting process. So again rather than admit you don't have a clue you denigrate knowledgeable people whose DD's are experiencing the benefits.

Your insistence on mentioning "the car pool" means that you are lost in this discussion as whole point of a local team is to not have to drive to WA to play with the best.

It's rather humorous reading the statement about us not knowing what we are talking about when it is OBVIOUS to anyone reading your posts can see it is YOU who do not know what you are talking about...but hey keep displaying your ignorance...it makes entertaining reading!

You shouldn't admit stuff on here that allows people to figure out who you are. There are only a few people doing ECNL from the area. But I will say this, the few girls I know doing ECNL up north are darn good players. Good luck to you. Be careful on this board.

I call bs and it's pretty obvious you wouldn't be trying so hard if you weren't so worried.

Your kid does ecnl because you seem to be hot and bothered by it but reaping the rewards my butt. And you know it. But what do I know, you are the parent that is riding his kid to hopefully be something.

But keep the sales pitch up. You might be able to get one more crazy in the car with you. At least you won't be alone salvating over the NAIA offers she gets from spending 32k.

I know who that person is. I wouldn't want to be in a car with them let alone a team. Wouldn't worry about them though. Oh and they aren't telling the truth about their college reaping. There are more kids getting better looks from this area who didn't do ecnl. They are just going to pay out the nose and get probably less considering.

Rumor has it there were only 9 or 10 girls out at the FC Portland ECNL tryout tonight. Ouch! They couldn't even get their own team out there.

Hopefully for them they get more at the second tryout. Or they are going to have to get creative with how they form the ECNL roster.

As a dad with a daughter trying out and was out there today, your statement is not close to being factual.

Here come the FC Portland forum monitors right on queue.

I was there and the numbers looked really poor. There were more than 10, but there was no way they had more than 20.
