That doesn't look much different from other clubs. Congratulations?

Other clubs don't spend as much time on PR as FC Portland. They are more interested in soccer. That is what FC is... A PR machine for their cult followers. That is what they have survived on since Clive died. Just look at their front page. It's more of a memorial than something about soccer.

Living in the past on an island wont get you by forever. Maybe you should join the TA. Maybe you could become the Thorns academy! Clive's thorny kids!

THUSC can't put more that 1-2 names under National team experience. They can recruit teams, not develop players. Does ID2 count?? LOL

It seems like FC Portland is obsessed with THUSC these days. Why? Because you can't beat them?

Better to live 10 years in the past than back in the stone age like the cavemen of Eastside...

Clive's philosophy is alive and well at FC. If you don't like what FC stands for, then simply stay away.

What does Clive's philosophy stand for? Marketing? Baseless self promotion? Child molesters? I don't think so. Clive did some great things. But FC no longer represents what he put in place.

So much uncalled for bashing of clubs, coaches, and coaches on here..godawful to read. Most likely your kid doesn't care about soccer as much as you do, enjoy the ride and lets keep it positive.

                      FC Philosophy:

“Through the game of soccer there is an opportunity to prepare and develop young people for the challenges of life.”

                      ET Philosophy:

"If you can't beat 'em, beat 'em up. Circle Boot!!!!"

Congratulations to players at both THUSC and FC Portland for being recruited by University of Portland Women's Soccer Program.

Congrats to all girls that can get a ride to school. Is that not what everyone is out for? to get your dd in to quality school first for an education and if she can play soccer as part of it great. Everyone is to worried about my team is better then yours if your dd is on a team and has tallent she will get a look no matter if she is at THUSC, FC or crossfire. If you been to an ECNL event you will notice every team gets looked at. These coaches are looking for diamonds in the rough. You really think they are not going to look at a team because of record. If I were a college scout that's the games I would go to if the others were not. Be in top running for those great players on poor teams. Which in reality are not poor teams maybe in ECNL they are. You will find this out soon enough. To much chatter about who's better. I can tell you right now there will not be a team in either club that will win a national ECNL title in your girls time here and they would be really luck to even get a finals birth which is the top 16 after the playoffs. So let's get over who's better and move on. Both clubs are going to offer quality coaching and development.

I agree. Kudos to all clubs trying to make a better development and recruiting experience for their players. Ultimately, it is the effort that these players put in individually that gets them the attention that they get from both colleges and/or National Team scouts.

Why would anyone wish for failure from any club? They are attempting to better their club and take a risk with the ECNL program.

Every club has to decide what they feel is best for them. Westside, Eastside, etc. decided to create an alliance. THUSC and Crossfire decided to create partnership through a new ECNL club. FCP is going it alone. Individual clubs make decisions for their club families. Will every move have immediate success? Maybe not but I see no reason to wish for failure for any club.

                              By the way...good luck to THUSC U13, U14, U15, U16 & U18 in the finals this weekend!
Be careful, your post made really good sense! I totally agree with you, it will take time for any new team entering an existing league playing at a high level to do well right out of the gate, but I believe that both clubs will do just fine in the ECNL. And I am a THUSC parent too.

Wait I thought you had to be on an ECNL team to get a scholarship?
