Some parents I know wanted to see the initial interest before committing.
You just described the kid I would NOT want as a team mate. This is the type of attitude "I only want to do it if others are interested". Be a leader in life not a follower!

Yet they still only had 5 per age group that were any good.

So is this really happening? What does it mean for the Portland ECNL teams? Are they going to do OYSA instead?

So you would jump off the cliff first to your death? I'd rather see the result of your jump and then make a wise decision. But that's just me. I prefer intelligence.

Stupid analogy, soccer is not life or death. This is about choosing to play in a more competitive league. I also get that just because you say ECNL doesn't guarantee quality, but certainly better than playing OYSA or OPL. I also get that it is more money, but for better consistent competition you will have to travel more. If I were a coach choosing and a kid just showed up for the 1st time on July 8, it would not be a kid I would select

This is why you are not a coach. ECNL coaches better take the best player period. Or they have no chance.

So you are the guy who buys the new unproven car models rather than waiting to see if they are reliable and perform as advertised. Probably don't even test drive it either. Just buy it sight unseen and wait for it to show up.

Once again bad analogy. ECNL competition is proven and has been test driven. I can assure the quality of the competition is better than our own backyard. I agree we will get run over by the top ECNL teams, but it is better than berating the local teams 7-0 or sometimes even greater differential.

Actually, it's a great example because you are buying Portland ECNL and not So Cal ECNL, or even Seattle ECNL. Thusc can't even run a simple tournament, yet they are going to run one of the local ECNL clubs? That's laughable. Everyone thinks that Onyx will be so competitive, yet they have some 7-1 and 5-1 spankings in their past and their most recent travels out of state haven't had good results. Yes, get used to those 7-0 games, just now you'll be on the wrong side of them.

Glad you brought up Onyx because I didn't. Onyx does have a winning record vs ECNL clubs. Completely agree that we need more speed to keep up with a great team like West Coast FC, but 99% of they games they will be competitive.

I am not buying anything! My club fees are going up $500 (not that material). Our travel costs are virtually the same because we currently travel a lot. Playing in the NW ECNL conference will be much better than playing OPL and I like our chances

Love it when someone brings up the 5-1 loss that they forget to mention that Onyx advanced to semi finals and got beat by So Cal Blues 1-0 (So Cal scored on a PK). People also fail to mention that Onyx the ECNL National Champion in the qtrs, however I would say they are the better team.

Please let me know the 7-1 score that are speaking of. That is an ***** woo pin and I was wondering against which team

So Madison County, at least that is what is listed in their history. Ouch.

That's funny! What is even funnier is that you wrote "ouch" like you got me on something or you were proving your point

Maybe you should do your homework because the score was 7-1 Onyx, Gotsoccer is score is wrong
