THUSC is forward thinking and trying to advance soccer. There is a reason why they are accepted into the tournaments they are and a reason their teams do as well as they do outside Oregon. THUSC is not satisfied with playing the same few clubs in Oregon.

It is nothing more than a ruse to counter the ECNL and proves that the Timbers are not interested in bettering soccer.
The first year they will train and travel to various showcase tournaments. In future years they may join PDL and have a thorns u23 team playing other professional soccer squads. That's what I read and it seems reasonable to me. If that all cost $500, how does that not sound better than 8k for ECNL. To me, it's not a difficult decision if that actually becomes true. And yes, I realize it is just an email right now. So we shall wait and see. But if it's true, you should not be shocked to see some top opl players taking advantage of it...

They should be satisfied playing local clubs since generally speaking, they have their hands full outside 1 age group.

You sound bitter and jealous. You'll get over it.

You might go back and double check that statement.

They are talking about WPSL. There were 3 or 4 teams in Oregon last year. Bend, Eugene and WST were slaughtered. THUSC Diamonds won the division. They could give the Thorns a run for their money. What is this Thorns academy going to offer again? A second rate WPSL team to THUSC?

              Also, u23 is not u14-u18.

Just keep dreaming. Keep hoping the Timbers actually do something for girls soccer. Keep playing TA boot ball. Enjoy your child's soccer years but don't fool yourself thinking she will go anywhere playing for a TA club or this mythical Thorns academy.

Actually, for $500 it sounds fantastic. You pay your 8k and both our DD's will still get the same 1/2 ride scholarship to play mid level div 1 soccer. Only difference is I will have $30 G's in my pocket that you don't after u14-u18.

There are a handful of ECNL teams that are really good and beat up on everyone, bt generally speaking Oregon should compete fine.
My BS meter is off the charts. Oregon girls teams are sub par and have always been.

                              Where have you been?

Places you have not been. You have clearly never traveled East.
