Maybe you can crossbreed them also and have your own little ECNL species.

And now that OPL clubs have ECNL, the road is clear to merge the Oregon leagues. Timbers no longer have any control in the matter.
You think that there are 24 players x 2 clubs = 48 players in Oregon at every age group that will step up and shell out $4000-5000 per year to play ECNL ? vs. If the Thorns were to put an Academy together at the $500 annual fee that they wont pull players away from the ECNL teams ?

An academy level should be the best players for the region, not a way for a club to charge more for its programs.
Your point is a good one. That's why the Timbers shouldn't be running OYSA, creating their club alliances and other nonsense. They are anything but objective and are using OYSA, the alliance clubs and ODP to subsidize academy expenses. Adding a Thorns Academy will just increase the need for a subsidy.

The missing details of the Thorns Academy (training schedule, coaches, games, travel, etc) will be provided as soon as you pay up the $500....not before.

Crossfire Oregon is still Crossfire Oregon and THUSC is still THUSC.

However, at U14 and above the 2 clubs have formed a partnership (not a merger, not an Alliance) to combine their talent in order to be more competitive. I would say they will still get their butts handed to them by the top level ECNL teams, but this is way better than what currently exist in OR. I am also not naive to know that this will not be CHEAP regardless of hor the coaches from Crossfire United or FC try and spin. Whatever # they tell me, I will add at least $2500 to their budget

But yes. The sub par teams out of Oregon always do the minimum.
Why do people keep calling the Oregon teams sub par? My daughters team NOW beats ties and plays close with ECNL teams all the time. Other teams in the area do as well. There are a handful of ECNL teams that are really good and beat up on everyone, bt generally speaking Oregon should compete fine.

I for one will need to wait and see what the thorns academy product is before we make our decision. It's conceivable that the team is just as good or better than an ECNL team. If the top 2 or 3 players from each TA team join it will be very good. If they lay out a program that is subsidized, costs $500, and with that it includes 10 months of training, kits, and travel and entry to top showcase tourneys, that is absolutely a better value than ECNL in my opinion. If down the road it leads to PDL and a thorns u23 team, I could even see a handful of OPL top players do it too simply for the value as compared to ECNL. But if costs creep up, and these things don't happen, I can see TA players leaving for ECNL.

But as many have mentioned, we don't know the details for thorns academy. We only have an email with some interesting talking points. One thing is certain, girls soccer in Oregon just got crazy.

It's a couple dozen pages back in the release from Eric lysco.

THUSC teams shell out this kind of money already with the traveling they do. The problem is that people like you who don't know because you're at clubs with small minds and don't travel much.

Let's pretend for a second that this Thorns team is as good or better than an ECNL team. Where and who are they going to play? Are they going to keep playing local teams in Oregon and wow everyone with how great they are? Give it a rest. There is no substance to the Thorns academy. It is nothing more than a ruse to counter the ECNL and proves that the Timbers are not interested in bettering soccer.

Are you suggesting that people at THUSC have large heads?

The "drool dripping from jaws" is because THUSC has been anxiously waiting for their teams to be accepted so they can compete outside Oregon on a more regular basis. THUSC merging with Crossfire Oregon is really smart considering the two clubs combined will create highly competitive teams.

Maybe not all, but the one you just replied to does.
