Plus if you go to Vegas, is your club going to front your blackjack money? Probably not. They only have high stakes tables so you are looking at $50 min tables, so probably another $3,000 minimum, with a few $25 cocktails. There's lots of other crazy things down there to spend your money on so you are probably looking at bringing another $5,000 in pocket money. So you are looking at $22,000.

Probably need to upgrade the ride since the Cordoba isn't going to be too cool backfiring when dropping your daughter off. An Audi Q7 is about $800 a month for a lease all costs amortized in, so that's another $9,600 per year, not counting gas.

So we're probably looking at $31,600 per year. I need to upgrade the smile with some veneers and oh my that is probably $9,000. Plus the personal trainer, sonobello, and a couple Nordstrom personal shopper trips.

All said and done we're probably looking at $65,000 per year for ECNL. Is it worth it?
Can anyone confirm these numbers for ECNL?

        The $65k looks about right.

I heard there is a new super league that costs 20,000 a year but you get super super good development... And you get super super good exposure to coaches from other countries. It's the next big thing and you don't want to be THAT parent who looks like less of a person because your kid isn't doing that super league.

Exposure starts at u11 and the travel is insane but only to mediocre families.

EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE is doing it. This is coming soon so make sure you tell all the people how amazing this will be.

Don't worry about costs. If you add everything up, it's about the same as club fees plus a
Half a million other things. Its a good deal considering you will probably get a full ride to an amazing school.

Did I say only the super good will be doing it so if you aren't super good, don't bother.

The ECNL is essentially the same things for girls and anyone who is genuinely interested in improving girls soccer should support these programs regardless of who was awarded them.

It turns out the Timbers are on a crusade to push people away from the ECNL so they can can control soccer. This has always been their agenda. It was never about improving soccer. It is about control and money.

So the Timbers create this Thorns academy that will play where? In a few tournaments? They have no league to play in beyond an OYSA league. How will this benefit girls?

People have repeatedly said on this site that talent is too diluted to compete outside Oregon. Now we have programs coming to Oregon that enable us to consolidate top talent and compete and the Timbers and their TA drones are out en mass attacking the ECNL and creating this Thorns academy.

It is shameful what the Timbers are doing. They are not unifying soccer. They are manipulating soccer for their own profit. This is exactly why US Soccer across the country continues to grow while USYS continues to shrink. It is this small minded approach that holds soccer back in the US.
But isn't your club doing the exact same thing? You see ECNL as the only solution...it will concentrate players and money to your club. Your protests ring remarkably shallow since every bright light you try to shine on the Timbers can shine on you as well. You are not unifying soccer you want to create your own gravy train where every comes to one private club as the path of ascendancy. If you were truly about the whole game you would support getting Thirns academy into ECNL, then it could be an appropriate parallel to the DA, it would be a third party rather then one youth club providing services and would be open to all.

Sorry but all your protests hold no water, because you are doing the exact same thing.

Who applied to get in that new league then? They are getting it this year?

There is a new super league coming and it is going to blow ecnl and thorns out of the water. Only the best are going to play on it. You get amazing exposure to college coaches starting at u11 and you play the best teams around. Don't worry about the cost, it's about the same as everything all added up.

I've already heard of a lot of people scrambling to find out which club is going to get it. I'm going to do it.

I heard the league was coed. Only the best kids can play but you get to play against teams 3-4 years older than yours. You gotta play the best to be the best. I wish they had to play college kids but I'll settle for this. Better watch out Portland. It's coming. I've already told all the other parents and they think I'm so smart for knowing this stuff.

This anti-ECNL talk only proves that the Timbers are not looking out for the best interest in youth soccer.
                    Obvious, isn't it?
ECNL coming to Portland would not be in the Timbers interest, unless of course, they could horn in on the program.

Both opl and oysa are scared of this new league. It surely will put any ecnl thorns debate to rest. Only the best will play. It will weed out people who don't want to commit money or travel to their dd's future. Only the best club from each state get it. That's right. Only one.

It depends on how you look at it. Most clubs believe they are successful if one of their players make the DA program. Yes, they lost a player but they were also successful in their primary objective of developing players.

The same should be for the coming ECNL programs. Clubs should encourage their top players to tryout and play if they can.

My bet is that oysa club will get it. Regardless it is going to change the landscape of soccer in pdx!

Ha! Why encourage them to do it?

                            1. It's not happening.

                            2. DA is 500.00 No one will promote a player to go play at a club charging 8k on something that someone else will be more successful without doing it.

                            3. The teams are going to be even worse than the Idaho and other terrible teams that are in ecnl now.

No one will need to promote this new league. It will stand on its own! Only the best will be in it. I'm all for a super league in pdx!

If not already, the best teams from ecnl will pull out because of the bad teams and clubs now diluting it. Turning into a come one come all expensive league. Watch and see the best join the new super league.
