What? No one wants to comment on the fact they got knocked out of the tournament yesterday? What is wrong with everyone on here?

I will - lost in OT 2-1 in the quarters against the eventual champs. Crappy PK call for the home team. Anybody who watched the game knows the rev were the better team. Absolutely dominated, just couldn't get it past the 6'6 keeper that could reach out and touch the posts the goals were so small. Both the Xfire goals came from the keeper punting the ball and it bouncing into the box for a scoring opp. After having the worst game possible against harbor and losing bad, the girls played fantastic the rest of the weekend.

I would like to make a simple recommendation for whoever makes up the rules about field size and mini-mod soccer. If the girls are big enough to kick the ball damn near the length of the field (especially the keeper) - then either the field is too small or you should ban punting. It was literally the only time it got into our box. Make the keeper throw it or roll it out.

Sounds like you guys need a few sessions on playing balls in the air. I'm sure your girls work on juggling and that most, if not all can juggle the ball over 200 times feet only...if not you are behind the curve and need to get to work....once you accomplish those things your girls will be able to negotiate the balls that come to them in the air

Nope. It's pacific. They just do what they need to win to eventually leave underdeveloped an can't make a team. But at least the parents had a good time.

And you know that is BS because you were there?

Name one other team that has 14 10-year old girls that can juggle 200 times on their feet? None in Oregon and Washington I can tell you that.

Congratulations - that sounds like a solid result.

In terms of modified rules for mini-mod, was talking to a DOC recently who indicated that one of the leagues was looking at to require goalie to throw or roll it out; not sure where that would go, but that is consistent with futsal rules. One challenge is that if the other team plays a high line it is extremely difficult for teams to get it out of their half, but wonder if there are other rule tweaks that could be made to help make it work.

Just make it so that all punts that go directly into the opposing teams penalty area can not be played by the punting team. Then train the GK to control the placement of their punts instead of going for distance only.

Actually - that is a fabulous idea. Treat it like the intentional pass back to the goalie - indirect if an offensive player touches it first. That would make extending mini-mod past U11 more achievable.

Ugh. Can't we just all get past this mini-mod european crap and play 11v11 soccer like it was meant to be? The girls at 10/11 years old can't play long ball because they don't have the leg. It forces them to use space and pass and keep good form. If they are just doing bootball on the big field it is a coaching problem, not a field size problem.

The other modification that some leagues make is to add an "offsides line" somewhere between the penalty area and the center line. This stretches the field a bit and makes it harder for the attacking team to keep the defending team pinned in their own end.
