Sure, if you want to call the 1000 rec players on your "Tier 3 and 4" teams that you call "advanced comp".

I thought OPL and oregon likes that we fill their first division league with our third and fourth teams....our third and fourth teams do well against the "B" teams of oregon

Since 2011 OPL State Cups Won (we can all agree OYSA State Cup was a complete joke since 2011)

Clubs winning a State Cup that are now OYSA 22
Clubs winning a State Cup that are now OPL 24

Teams outside WT, ET, FC Portland, THUSC, Crossfire 4

Clearly the split is 2 OYSA 3 OPL the rest of the states soccer is rec.

Maybe the split isn't a bid deal. The OPL titles are mostly girls and OYSA titles are boys.

The issue will be not playing the other clubs who provide good games throughout the year.

The issue will be paying for all the fixed costs of the club including the DOC. This requires numbers of player registration fees. These numbers have the potential to erode for the younger girls and will absolutely erode on the boys side. To me, this is the only issue.

Then they should be fine :-). Unfortunately, we already know that one of the remaining OPL clubs is planning on going to OYSA beginning in the fall so that will likely be the chink in the armor that will do most harm. I could see THUSC doing something altogether different like FWRL (uh oh, that is also OYSA) hmmm. Yeah I don't know it does not look good.

Your don't seem to be able to differentiate the difference between a club and a league. OPL clubs aren't losing any players so why would the club be in trouble financially??

DOCs are paid by the club. The club is paid by the players. In order to make the payroll, fees for leagues, refs, coaches etc. the club needs as many players as is possible. The split is a game changer whether you choose to acknowledge or not, sort of like the OPL splitting off was a huge game changer for OYSA. OYSA was marginally able to stay afloat because they have other programs besides competitive soccer. The OPL has competitive soccer only so that any club aligning themselves with OPL will likely see a huge erosion of players over the next few years. Playing the same team over and over is a temporary solution and one that will get old. My prediction is that these remaining clubs also have a Plan B so to speak. FC Portland has already addressed this and THUSC and Crossfire Oregon both have to play someone.... each other over and over.... so, it isn't looking good.

Just because you can't visualize the future doesn't mean that after a Winter and Spring league playing your other brother Daryl things won't change.

Go ahead and keep telling yourself that the boys programs in the OPL are going to represent a "quality" experience. How much traveling are the OPL boy's teams gonna have to do to get good competition? How many MORE tournaments are they gonna have to enter to play the teams they could in a UNIFIED league?

On the girls side look for a big increase in the tournament schedule also. As a Mercury parent how many they have on the books! Oh the horror of traveling to Bend or Eugene vs the Bay Area or So Cal.

I don't think this is completely true. Some of the best clubs purposely limit how many teams they form at each age group so as to focus their resources on their best players.
