    Lopsided split? Not really.

Let's take an honest look at the OYSA/OPL split.

Clubs and Teams registered for OYSA Winter league:

    1. Eastside Timbers (5 boys teams / 4 girls teams)
    2. Westside Timbers (7 boys teams / 6 girls teams)
    3. Washington Timbers (0 boys teams / 11 girls teams)
    4. Bend FC Timbers (2 boys teams / 2 girls teams)
    5. Rogue Valley Timbers (3 boys teams / 2 girls teams)
    6. Capital FC Timbers (5 boys teams / 3 girls teams)
    7. Eugene Timbers (5 boys teams / 4 girls teams)
    8. BSC Portland (4 boys teams / 5 girls teams)
    9. PCU (8 boys teams / 7 girls teams)
    10. Woodburn Athletic (2 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
    11. Grants Pass SC (2 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
    12. FC Salmon Creek (0 boys teams / 3 girls teams)
    13. United SA (2 boys teams / 2 girls teams)
    14. Volcano Blue (0 boys teams / 1 girls teams)
    15. Southern Oregon SA (0 boys teams / 1 girls teams)
    16. La Amistad SC (3 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
    17. Pelada Futbol Academy (1 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
    18. Milwaukie SC (1 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
TOTALS: 50 boys teams / 51 girls teams (101 teams)

Clubs and Teams registered with OPL for Winter:

    1. FC Portland (6 boys teams / 7 girls teams)
    2. THUSC (2 boys teams / 7 girls teams)
    3. Crossfire OR (10 boys teams / 10 girls teams)
    4. FC Salmon Creek (0 boys teams / 2 girls teams)
    5. Pacific FC (0 boys teams / 6 girls teams)
    6. Hillsboro SC (3 boys teams / 3 girls teams)
    7. TFA Barcelona OR (3 boys teams / 1 girls team)
    8. THELO (5 boys teams / 1 girls teams)
    9. Azul FC (1 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
    10. FC West (1 boys teams / 1 girls teams)
    11. Valley FC (2 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
    12. Corvallis United (0 boys teams / 2 girls teams)
    13. Canby United (0 boys teams / 1 girls teams)
    14. SO Samba SC (1 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
    15. Albany FC (1 boys team / 0 girls teams)
TOTALS: 35 boys teams / 41 girls teams (76 teams)

Which means that the state is so far split 57% toward OYSA and 43% toward OPL. Not nearly the 70% in favor of OYSA as some people love to say.

Had BSC kept their Winter teams with OPL as they originally said they would it would be much closer to 50/50.

By looking at it, the OYSA teams will be traveling A LOT. Either that or the divisions will be regionalized and therefore even more watered down. This could end up with players moving to OPL clubs after this season. However, OPL will be dominated by the 3 bigger clubs; THUSC, FC Portland, and Crossfire Oregon.

The 70% split will be in the U11-U14 leagues, those leagues are heavily weighted in numbers towards OYSA

I'm not sure where you are getting your list but I have kids playing at two different clubs and we are not doing OPL.....I'm not sure if you've included us above. MY DD's coach at Pacific said that the entire club was going OYSA and I'm pretty sure my other DD's team at FCSC is going OYSA. FCSC and Pacific are all going OYSA. I really don't care about the argument that people are making and I'm happy with where my two clubs are going

I'm really curious about this list as well since I haven't see anywhere that the OPL has put any list out of the actual teams who registered

            WOW

            so we need to recalculate:

            OYSA
            Boys 50
            Girls 59

            OPL
            Boys 35
            Girls 33

OYSA only has 58% on the boys side - but clearly the quality, even with losing top players to DA
OYSA has 64% of the girls teams.

And this is only looking at Winter 2014 League.....there are many more clubs moving in the spring with full participation in fall of 2014. Thanks for the numbers, it helps solidify that OPL is not where the quality will be. The future looks to be OYSA. I think OPL will be around to help fill in the PML level of teams with THUSC and Lake O...the smart move would be for THUSC and Lake O to combine and move to OYSA. People!!! that's the final goal, consolidation is the key to success and growth in Oregon...I hope it keeps going this way. This change is forcing clubs to rethink and look to combine

Is that the next step for the TA, consolidation of all TA clubs into 1 big red & white elephant? If not, why not?

Our teams from U11-U14 here at FCPDX will be doing OYSA starting in the spring....the rest of our club will make the move in the fall of 2014. The banter back and forth is comical. I really don't care who runs the league and I am happy that my club is making the move to OYSA - who cares, let's all re unite and grow the entire state together like Washington.

If FCP is moving to OYSA then OPL is done, and on the bright side that means the sooner we will have everyon in the same leagues again.

And if you include all the rec players the TA clubs have, then it's probably 95/5 split. But what does it matter? Everything after the top 2 teams per club are not really "premier" anyways, and even that is a stretch for many B teams.

Pacific FC has no winter teams in OYSA, they are all in OPL. Coach I talked to from there said they plan to all stay OPL, and their Winter registrations back that up.

NEU only committed U9-U10 teams to OYSA, still undecided on U11-U14 (as they were apart of the group that originally said they would decided for each team and not commit one way or the other).

FCSC has a few in each league.

FC Portland has voiced strong commitment to OPL, doubtful they are moving in Spring. I think that is people just trying to add doubt to the situation.

Not nearly the doom and gloom everyone says it is.

If you look at the NPL and Premier divisions from U11-U14 from the fall league they are 70-75% teams who have backed OYSA.
