Split
It looks like the split is 2 OYSA and 3 OPL
OYSA
WS

THUSC
The rest of the team are just filler to beat up on. Just the way it is.

On the other hand USYS there are multiple clubs who have performed at regionals, and nationals. Clearly the split has more to do with boys and girls teams. The boys teams with OYSA will be far stronger than at OPL. The girls teams will be stronger at OPL. Whichever gender your child so flies the flag of your allegiance. You can try to pretend it means more than that, but really?

oh please
US Youth Regional/Nationals and US Cub Regionals/Nationals are most certainly the B league champs. The US DA and ENCL are the premier in that category.
Why base your clubs placement on US Youth Regional. You can go back 5 years ago and listen to the now TA reasons why.
Also other than one FC Portland team eons ago, WSM Internationals, and Eastside United Liverpool, Oregon has not had a great track record at regionals.

MY DD's coach at Pacific said that the entire club was going OYSA and I'm pretty sure my other DD's team at FCSC is going OYSA. FCSC and Pacific are all going OYSA. I really don't care about the argument that people are making and I'm happy with where my two clubs are going

The real question is WHY split at all?
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostLet's take an honest look at the OYSA/OPL split.
Clubs and Teams registered for OYSA Winter league:
1. Eastside Timbers (5 boys teams / 4 girls teams)
2. Westside Timbers (7 boys teams / 6 girls teams)
3. Washington Timbers (0 boys teams / 11 girls teams)
4. Bend FC Timbers (2 boys teams / 2 girls teams)
5. Rogue Valley Timbers (3 boys teams / 2 girls teams)
6. Capital FC Timbers (5 boys teams / 3 girls teams)
7. Eugene Timbers (5 boys teams / 4 girls teams)
8. BSC Portland (4 boys teams / 5 girls teams)
9. PCU (8 boys teams / 7 girls teams)
10. Woodburn Athletic (2 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
11. Grants Pass SC (2 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
12. FC Salmon Creek (0 boys teams / 3 girls teams)
13. United SA (2 boys teams / 2 girls teams)
14. Volcano Blue (0 boys teams / 1 girls teams)
15. Southern Oregon SA (0 boys teams / 1 girls teams)
16. La Amistad SC (3 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
17. Pelada Futbol Academy (1 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
18. Milwaukie SC (1 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
TOTALS: 50 boys teams / 51 girls teams (101 teams)
Clubs and Teams registered with OPL for Winter:
1. FC Portland (6 boys teams / 7 girls teams)
2. THUSC (2 boys teams / 7 girls teams)
3. Crossfire OR (10 boys teams / 10 girls teams)
4. FC Salmon Creek (0 boys teams / 2 girls teams)
5. Pacific FC (0 boys teams / 6 girls teams)
6. Hillsboro SC (3 boys teams / 3 girls teams)
7. TFA Barcelona OR (3 boys teams / 1 girls team)
8. THELO (5 boys teams / 1 girls teams)
9. Azul FC (1 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
10. FC West (1 boys teams / 1 girls teams)
11. Valley FC (2 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
12. Corvallis United (0 boys teams / 2 girls teams)
13. Canby United (0 boys teams / 1 girls teams)
14. SO Samba SC (1 boys teams / 0 girls teams)
15. Albany FC (1 boys team / 0 girls teams)
TOTALS: 35 boys teams / 41 girls teams (76 teams)
Which means that the state is so far split 57% toward OYSA and 43% toward OPL. Not nearly the 70% in favor of OYSA as some people love to say.
Had BSC kept their Winter teams with OPL as they originally said they would it would be much closer to 50/50.
By looking at it, the OYSA teams will be traveling A LOT. Either that or the divisions will be regionalized and therefore even more watered down. This could end up with players moving to OPL clubs after this season. However, OPL will be dominated by the 3 bigger clubs; THUSC, FC Portland, and Crossfire Oregon.
I would also point out that the ratio on the boys side is closer to 70% and the vast majority of the top boys teams are in the OYSA league. For the 100th time this will draw the better boys OUT of OPL clubs and there is no way for them to survive "as is" with lower player counts.
The OPL clubs are in the initial stages of suicide but they don't realize that the cool aide they are drinking is POISON!
