The problem will be that without numbers OPL won't be able to maintain those quality teams since they will go broke trying. Quality is absolutely not a requirement to get money in the door. Very unfortunate but true nonetheless. Personally, I think it would be better for all teams to get back under the same governing body anyway. I think our girl's team is better than most of the OYSA registered girl's teams but I don't think it has anything to do with OPL or OYSA. I want unity as I don't see a very good league for us in OPL even though we will likely win either way.

I assume you are generalizing because at u16 girls OYSA has the top two teams and 8 of the top 12 teams.

Regarding 'Quality' I have a question

It's clearly evident that the 'quality' has been gutted out of the boys u15 to u18 club teams across Oregon, with the introduction of the Timbers DA program over a year ago. The DA will begin it's foray in the u14 ranks very soon, leaving the u13 and below ages with the untouched 'quality' still intact at the club level. So be it.

The big whammie is coming to the Girls side of things when the Timbers/Thorns begin to gut the same clubs of their 'qualilty' High School aged Girls players to become part of the Timbers elite youth soccer empire.

        Then what?

No one will care what league the remaining players compete in--they like the Oregon club boys of today will be classified as 2nd class citizens.

        What do you think?

It looks to me like the OPL will end up with most of the best and worst teams while OYSA gets most of the middle teams. Some rare exceptions of course, but this is basically the case.

Maybe gutted out of the "big five clubs" This is partially a result of the DA as kids continue to follow the pied piper thinking he will lead them somewhere, I think it is more a result of players realizing they don't have to play at one of the big five clubs… If you look at the valley teams, many of these have increased in quality significantly. These teams are representing us out of state better than the drone teams coming out of the big five. What OYSA brings back to Oregon Soccer is it value the diversity of clubs, and brings the best to the top, not just the best portland teams...

I hope you are correct. I was told it was still a ways out. Maybe things changed and that would be great.

Haven't heard the Timber hater tell you the $4 card fee is paying for all the DA programs so why wouldn't you expect another $4 added to EVERY USYS card and them shipped off to GW & MP?

At U18G you will have 3 high quality OPL teams, and the rest crap. How is that a good thing?
