Folks this could work very well for Oregon. We would have finally have a group that could pull this off.

When I Root, I Root for the Thorns (and the Timbers). Good for Oregon. Good for Youth Soccer.

I like the use "Lead, Follow, or get out of the way".
First off the Thorns sadly won't be around long enough for that to happen. Secondly even if they are as long as Westside and Eastside have the same girls coaching staff in place the top talent will not go there.

Washington Timbers is equitable right now, all by itself, to the top clubs in Oregon on the girls side. If you go age group by age group, the case can easily be made overall. If you add in 6 more clubs... even stronger.

And no, Onyx, we already know you guys are the exception due to your awesomeness.

It is certainly debatable whether the Thorns will survive. Women's soccer might not quite be ready for prime time. But based on what I am seeing with the men, and the upward trend in the USA supporting soccer, my bet is that the Thorns survive. Honestly, the Thorns are more successful than I imagined. I also think the other poster is 100% dead on when saying the Thorns academy is just around the corner followed with ECNL. Of course it is, what other plan could they possibly have. It's right in front of us to see. When they do turn that corner, your 2nd concern goes away 100% so it's a mute point.

          It's over folks

Only One group will have Boys USSDA teams (U14/U16/U18)

Only One group will have Girls ECNL teams.

Only One group will run competitive youth soccer leagues in Oregon and SW Washington.

Only One group will run the OYSA ODP Program.

Only One group will have the database of all the players registered in the programs above.

..oh I forgot to mention this One group will also run camps and clinics at your neighborhood fields as well.

          Enjoy the ride, sheep.

I get not everyone likes the TA clubs. However, I'm not sure some of their arguments. Especially with the price side of it. the price didn't jump at all with the club I am most familiar with, so The parents don't pay any more, but get a few more perks. If they were going to play in that club anyways, I guess I don't see any issue with the alliance at all.

It does not get much more simpler than this morons.

FC Ps money situation isn't good. Thusc will not merge with anyone or visa Versa. Ossa made their bed with crossfire but it doesn't change the pdx soccer situation and crossfire players aren't playing down here and ossa players aren't treking up there to train.

Simpler: FC P thusc and ossa have no shot in hell to merge.

Westside, Eastside, Washington, Eugene, Bend, RvT put one boys team and one girls team from each age TOGETHER they would Absolutly be the best team pushing regionally competitive and one would say their 2nd team would beat 90% if not 95% of all teams than the FC p or thusc etc.

Now, think about the teams on the girls and boys side and think about the number of teams they have that are already 1-2 in the league or would be if they played in the league *** club.

Do you really think with that knowing the chances of even one team from those clubs now winning state, nwcl, etc

There goes your way into surf or big tournaments. Now there goes your shot at ecnl, USSda etc.

              It's not rocket science.

Look what happened when only grfc and dos up north merged which were 2nd rate clubs.

Now PAC nw is a powerhouse. Think about at least 4 better clubs merging their top talent.

              Game over.

                  .
This is a joke right? I agree with you on the boys side but definitely not the girls side. FC, THUSC, and OSSA would still dominate any Timbers Alliance team. Actually I could see FC still holding their own just fine against the Alliance team as well.

I also think the Thorns are more successful than I thought they would be; though they really should be given the players they got in the draft. The Thorns have been getting great crowds and support, but is that the same across the league? I read that the average attendance for a league game not including the Thorns is a bit under 3,000. Not sure how that can survive in the long run. I hope it does....

You are silly. FC won two state cups on the girls side last year and one of those was at U-18.
Get off your high horse. Hardly a dominate club.

And we are not really talking about local competition are we. We are talking about putting a group together that can challenge the best clubs in the west and putting a stop to making our best young players traveling 3 hours for an ECNL club. I to was at the Friendship cup and watched our 99 ODP team beat a Crossfire ECNL club. We need more of that.

Come on Timbers do this thing and help our daughters who wish and can play high level soccer to do it locally. Doesn't have to be ECNL an Alliance Traveling Team would suffice.

So they could enter ECNL just as it becomes completely diluted and in all likelihood, begins to unravel. Rather than bantering for ECNL, just put together a strong team, consolidating as much talent as possible and then go enter a handful of top tournaments and/or leagues. That's what OSSA Blue, Copa, Onyx and Zirconium are doing at U13-U16.

Glad to hear that. Lets start getting competitive regionally and start thinking big picture. Proud of you guys.

Yes they played a Crossfire ECNL team that didn't even roster 4 of their starters and didn't have the coach there.

At what age group? Surely not U15, U16, U17 or U18. I'll give you U14 '99 team but that's about it.
