Don't start worrying about reality though...OPL doesn't do it, Fox news doesn't do it... Just throw out what you want, and maybe if enough people read it it will become reality...as if by magic
that sounds like obama
And so am I to assume you have done this? The last time I checked the age group we will compete with at regionals, form the states we will compete with at regionals there are many of the top teams competing.

I did go and look because our team is going. I noticed we will not be playing Crossfire or WPFC the top 2 teams in WA and I noticed FC Nova did not participate. The recent trend is that most of the ECNL teams don't play so it isn't the tournament that it once was, but should be a good test

I guess since they arent going, you cant play them anyways since your DD's team isnt in the ECNL, so why worry. It's still the best season ending tourney they are qualified for and able to play in.

Well at least share with the readers the teams they played and the results of the games.

Not for girls. ECNL doesn't do it. WA and Idaho didn't put their top teams in either. It's all watered down.

That's the problem. There are too many "Regionals" and "Nationals" for any of them to mean what they did in the past. Still decent events but not as challenging as they could be.

Yes, because when everyone is special, no one is. And those that think they are special, keep feeding the monster $ so they can feel even more special. This is really getting out of hand.

Overall complete cluster - USSoccer needs to step up and start making changes from the top down.

The best boys and girls are doing academy and ECNL if available in their market.

The ECNL teams are all shooting for a ECNL National Finals birth. Top 16 teams get a bid. Considering the teams and talent that will be there it should be one of if not the toughest title in the country to obtain. There will be a huge pool of college scouts at this event you have figure. In WA it's WPFC and Crossfire and next year Idaho will do the same with their new ECNL admission. I believe the finals this year are in Richmond, VA. In July.

Here in Orygun Dilution is still the problem

In some ways it's good to have the "other" choices for our players and teams however getting noticed for college and even national programs still depends more on being a member of a top team and here in "our neck of the woods" we are still slicing the pie into too many small pieces.

Can anyone really argue that the Westside of the Metro area "should" have three clubs trying to put forth top level teams when not one of our State Cup teams, even Onyx, can say they have more than 4 of the best players at the age group from the area let alone from the West side of town?

OSSA accomplished a political miracle merging rivals SS and LOSC and created a natural draw for Willamette and OSA. The jury is still out whether their coaching can get them to the promised land but the Crossfire affiliation provides hope for the future.

Meanwhile the "adults" in the Westside soccer room continue to put themselves ahead of the kids and the sport by refusing to merge from U14 up. Arrogance, ego and money are all factors but us parents should be pushing those Boards and DOC's to do the right thing for our kids and the game.

If FC, THUSC and BSC did what the affiliated OSSA clubs did an ECNL invite would soon follow on the girls side and the boys program would rival the Timbers DA in both development and competitiveness.

However, the ONLY way this is going to happen is if PARENTS demand a change! We can continue to pretend that our top teams and programs are developing the best players and attracting the best coaches and giving our players the best opportunities or we can make it a REALITY by consolidating and providing a counter balance to the alliance and become competitive out of state.

The choice is yours.....keep quite and suffer mediocrity or speak out for excellence!

The whole OPL/OPC/US Club defection started with a meeting, held in SE portland one evening addressing issues that were taking place at OYSA/USYSA. Maybe this is what we need to do next.....ORGANIZE.
