That old Copa team broke up 2 years ago. Best players went to ECNL. A few pine riders did Thorns for a year.

Actually, some of those "pine riders" got D1 offers and two (going on three) got D2 offers. Again, facts trump jealousy.

Everything changes with the USSDA taking over. Thorns Academy will finally be a major player.

The only way for them to become a major player is to start the Academy at much younger age . If they would have done this along time ago they might have kept more players around instead of them leaving for ecnl to gain better training opportunities.

The 2003 ODP team got the easiest bracket for Phoenix tourney. NM, Eastern WA, & WA. Toughest match vs WA but cancelled due to weather. They might have a chance to make it out of group if they don't have to play WA.

Pretty sad that WA can break their ODP team into 2 teams and still cause lots of worry for the Oregon ODP team...

A zillion times better than having to play SoCal or NorCal - even tho many of their best don't do ODP. Good point though - why are we so weak even compared to split WA teams (who also have tons of top players do pdp instead of ODP)? Hope these 03s have fun competing when they're young and can still dream of USWNT.

Not really, considering if it was a joint team 95% would still be from Western. I don't think anyone is worrying too much about Eastern.

Only eastern WA clubs that participate in ODP are Spokane Shadow and Three Rivers. Most age groups those clubs are 3rd division patsies.

Doubt they can reschedule. Lucky it's not the entire weekend cancelled for snow like happened to Ecnl in Texas. Maybe for the 1999s & 2000s who have a shot at Nationals. Why reschedule? Have Oregon come home happy with a couple of Ws. The kids doing ODP have the parents with big bank accounts and they'd be happy to pay to fly down for one game, especially if it's a rare W. Players are having a blast at the hotel. Fun - the way soccer should be!

Don't hold your breath. The Timbers have never spent money on youth soccer.
