Besides the obvious HSC Team. Who is looking to move into Gold.

The best from THUSC/LO/WUSC, along with others, will merge for CU ECNL (both 02 and 03) next year so those 3 teams will only get weaker. FCP will leave OYSA for ECNL. So you need to fill 2 holes in Gold and that would likely be TT and ETFC but I doubt TT will still exist after the age group change so who knows...

There are always going to be teams in over their head, TA or non TA, however, THUSC and FCP have their own version of nepotism, it's called NWCL. FCP U12s are midpack in 3rd Div OYSA however they are in NWCL. How excited do you think WA teams are about driving down here to play them? Let's hope OYSA takes steps to insure (now that seedings are figured out) that Prem is as competitive as possible (just like NWCL should do for their league). Let's hope it goes back to only the top 8 in Prem with the bottom 2 dropping and top 2 from Silver moving up. Not as a previous Bend/ET poster stated, a training ground so mediocre Timbers teams can play up and try and improve against tougher competition. This is only going to encourage top teams to look elsewhere for league play in the Fall, just as it has encouraged top Wash teams to pass on NWCL.

Except that the top teams don't pass on NWCL. If you compare NWCL to FWRL you'll see that NWCL has far more of the "top" teams from WA/ID/OR. And NWCL is a closed league for members only. FCP is a member. Many of the Timbers clubs aren't. Just the way it is.

With FCP and Thusc moving on to ECNL. TT could stay together and be competitive at 02. TS does not have a strong group of 02 players playing in the U14 age group. So they are unlikely to improve much at 02 next year and may opt to stay together as an 02 team. The 02 birth year players from Bend, Eastside and Salem are good, so the league could be dominated by them. TT appears to have a good defense, but have never had to contend with the forward from either Eastside or Salem.

The big clubs will not allow teams to stay together. If you do that for one team it messes up the teams on either side of them. For a rinky dink club like HSC where there are no other teams, maybe they could stay together. But they'll never get a Gold spot in place of a Timbers team, even if they are better.

Why is it that way? It wasn't 2-3 years ago. Where is Seattle United, Wa Rush, the other teams in FWRL, etc? They "passed" on joining the "closed league". Why? Probably because it's closed and playing in it doesn't insure that you won't be playing a 3rd Div U12G rec team. Maybe it has more top teams than FWRL (maybe not) but at least FWRL doesn't have 3rd Div teams, there are standards to play besides membership. Take away the membership from NWCL and move it back to top 4 from Or/top 4 from Wa and then you will see only the top teams playing and it will be competitive again.

                  Name one that isn't?

I see CFC, eastside, Eugene, wash timbers and westside
So bend, rv, arent hmmm ya that's many. Pretty much all of them are "members" nwcl just offered spots to who ever would take them. Not caring about quality of the teams.

What happened to Copa TS this weekend? They have an injured scorer? Defender? 1-0 against Bend? And 3-1 to FCP?

crickets, because you know I'm right. Don't complain about TA clubs getting a free pass into Gold when nwcl equates to the same thing. DOCs should come together and agree on standards for Gold and go back to top 4 finishers (regardless of membership) going to NWCL.

The Bend result is a little surprising.

NWCL was VERY competitive this year. Clubs that opted out did so more due to politics than anything else. FWRL was USYS' response to NWCL but they haven't got it right yet. It too is a closed league - you have to have played in an USYS league and be selected by your state association. There are no "standards" for entry into FWRL - each state association can choose whomever they wish. That's why you get teams in their that can't compete. No different than NWCL but a ton more political BS.

Why is WA Timbers doing well in FWRL and not in league? The team in FWRL is a good team, are they not using the same roster for both?

Bootball teams are notoriously inconsistent. Live by the long ball, die by the long ball.

I thought FWRL was based off qualifying, 1 and 2nd from fall league, 1st and 2nd at State Cup.
