If Wash Timbers are placed ahead of FC and Thusc and other PDX teams in NWCL :

    1. The wrong teams are in NWCL representing Oregon, since Wash Timbers is 6th in league.

    2. NWCL is pretty weak
I think the wash timbers were part of the founders of the nwcl so don't they get slots regardless of qualification?

That appears to be the case. Most of the teams they have in NWCL didn't, and couldn't, qualify for a spot.

WT started the year off good, but seem to be getting worse as the year goes on. Very direct, down the middle all the time. Hardly any two touch play on that team, half the girls just boot first touch. So not sure who this team would be an option for. They have no B team to draw players from. Unless another team implodes in the Couv. Who is going to step in and play for that team.

More likely their top 2-3 players find a better home next year.

That's what happens every year. Hence no HS girls teams above Rec+ level.

Are we really having this discussion. None of the local teams in NWCL in this age group had a performance worthy of discussing here.

What that tells me is we should all stop boosting about all of our sub-par performances and start working together as parents and find a way to get the best kids in the area on one team so that these kids can actually compete with the girls in Seattle. Otherwise it's going to be years of the same.

              Get over yourself

TS didn't advance, but they were competitive out there for nearly all games. You can look at wins vs. losses, but you should check out the scores too. They played some great soccer and represented Oregon just fine.

THUSC had 1 solid beat down from Seattle United, but most teams did. The rest of their scores were pretty close which leads me to believe that they were pretty competitive out their too.

FCP was a bit inconsistent, but they only had one big blowout vs. the mighty Seattle United team (who has only lost one game since the Summer).

FCSC - well, who knows what they were doing there. I hope they had a nice pool at their hotel. Maybe they got to visit the zoo on their out of town to turn it into a positive experience.

Good summary! Time to give our OR girls some credit with TS playing CU to within a goal and THUSC taking Eastside to the wire. SU represents consolidated talent from multiple clubs even at this early age so there's a reason they are the anomaly in this age bracket. I only wish our girls had the chance to play these teams more often!

                  NWCL Run Down:
                  Westside : 2 Win/0 Tie/3 loss - wins over ASE & FC Nova
FCSC: 0win/0 tie/5 loss - agree not sure what they were even doing there
                  FCP: 2 win/0 tie/4 loss - wins over WA Timbers & THUSC
THUSC: 2 win/1 tie/3 loss - wins over Indie Chicas & WA Timbers, tie Spokane Foxes
WA Timbers: 2 win/0 tie/ 4 loss - wins over Indie Chicas & Spokane Foxes

Again with 5 teams from Oregon/Southern WA NOT one WIN against Seattle teams and not one of the above teams advanced. The results speak for themselves.

As of now we are fine. At U14 they do start to funnel to 1 or 2 teams in the area. Its called ECNL. Either CU or FC depending on the age group wins out. Smart money would be on CU in this age group with the addition of LO, THUSC, Willamette, and Southside. It is going to be a nice team.

This has been pretty consistent over the years. Very seldom has there been a team that held it's own with Seattle teams. And it is these teams that formed the core of our ECNL teams and yet we are to somehow believe that we will now be competitive with teams that are far better than the Seattle teams that beat our teams down.

Seems in ECNL age group of U14 the FC team is doing quite well. Your facts are wrong in that paticular case and actually show that for now the system is working.

I am going to have to disagree here. Really...system is working! If your looking for average soccer and a "C" grade is a reason to celebrate then yes the current system is working!
Dilution of the top talent between 5-7 clubs hurts oregon soccer. Oregon soccer needs to take a look at itself if we want to develop top talent.

Before U14 it is okay to have many different teams. It allows a greater number of kids to develop. This will bring more quality to the ECNL ranks at U14. And I would put Money on the FC team that was just put together wining the Champions league this year. That will be better then a C grade. Portland soccer is just fine and consolidation at 14 is a great idea. Turn that frown upside down partner.

How would the current best team in the state done? We have not had the privilege to play them but they like to come on here and froth about how good they are. Are they really that good? I think FCP or THUSC would put that smack talk to the curb when they get a shot at them.
