Did you read the Oregonian article. University of Portland women's soccer is in complete disarray. Top players from around the country and Canada are no longer interested.

UP used to be a good program. Too bad.

Is it a bad thing for a local school to offer spots to local girls? Isn't it better for these girls to get their education locally and get to play for their "home" school and town? Only a TA lemming would think otherwise.

It's just fine for U of O and OSU to recruit locally, TA lemming feels threatened because of the FC / U of P connection.

So the five kids heading to UofP are all off of the FC U18 ECNL team. This recruiting year 2016 for UofP is a top 25 Class. That team must be reaaallly good. What is there record?

I don't think the program sucks. I think that other programs have caught up with it. People are unrealistic.

The program at UP only "sucks" when compared to a brief blip in time where they were the best in the nation. You take a small private school in a backwater town and add the best female player in the world, who only came to Portland because she has family here. The team wins. Imagine that. A few really good but not great players follow but aren't good enough to repeat the magic. Interest in the program declines and it becomes what it always was before the "blip" - a small private school in a backwater town. Still a great place to go to school and to play soccer. But don't expect any more national titles until the next phenom comes to town - and that's not happening any time soon.

I love how this all started because TT beat FCP this weekend. Looking at FCP's wins over the past Fall and this Spring, they shouldn't have been surprised or defensive about the loss. TT is a good team that beat FCP. It wasn't luck, or a mythical 4 shots/4 goals. And to say FCP would beat TT 8 of 10 games played is wishful thinking, at best. Be thankful you have competition. It was no fun playing in Silver last Fall, scoring 6-10 goals a game and not being heavily challenged.

Hope to get a rematch in the State Cup. TT will probably get a crap seeding because they were in Silver for the Fall...

TT parents aren't very original. Just like their team plays, copied the bootball method right out of the Timbers playbook.

Who cares? TT has less than 2 months left then disbands. Best 2-3 players go to FCP. Rest go to 3rd division. No big deal.

Doesn't matter. Less than two months and FCP disbands and their best players go elsewhere.
