Colleges are choosing the multi athletes over the soccer-only players. Most of the top soccer players in Oregon are multi sport athletes. In my experience, most of the ones who only play soccer, are parent driven to give up all other sports so that their child can spend every waking hour on soccer - because that is the only way their child even has a chance at staying competitive at soccer. The top athletes tend to be the top in soccer AND other sports - especially basketball and track. When you have a child specializing only in soccer before high school, it's usually parent-driven (or the child sees that they are good in soccer but not in any other sport so the child wants out because the parents don't want the embarrassment of the kid sitting the bench or making the B team in other sports).

It matters more that you DK is relatively good at one of them (i.e. being athletic) Playing just to play multiple sports will get you no where except the J.V. team at your local high school.

Thanks Captain Obvious. The true athletes actually excel at a high level at multiple sports. These athletes are picked over equivalent soccer-only players, who may excel at soccer due to a zillion hours of soccer but actually aren't as athletic. Just as you can't teach speed, you can't teach athleticism. Colleges know that.

Keep thinking that. College coaches want soccer super stars, not mediocre multi-sporters

College soccer coach loved it when dd was doing track senior year, texting encouragements for state meet etc. Then she gets to school and asks maybe she can run some home meets in the spring (college track coach also contacted her in hs) and LONG blank stare. They only want you focusing on soccer once you get to college.

Fcp isn't known for development. That is why majority of their players are a collaboration of nutcase families who listen to the snake oil sales coaches who dont care but clock in for a pay check. Thusc has always done a better job and even the ta teams in the past have done a better job with their players coming in and booting the so called developed fcp players to the b team.

Isn't this what you would expect a competitive ecnl club to do? At 14 and up, it's starting to become more about winning, so why not put the players in place to do that? Why keep a B talent girl that can no longer keep up with the team on the 1st team just because she has been there for a couple of years? Sorry, kids get moved down that's the nature of competitive soccer. It happens at lower level clubs and it most definitely should be happening for Ecnl.

It sounds like spilled milk for you, just get over it and move on, be glad you're not spending $$$ on travel to have your dd sit the bench. She'll get plenty of playing time on Navy and will be local so you can watch her play.

At least you are aware of the scam that is fcp and the recruit to win. It's funny that some of you parents haven't figured out that their coaching and development leaves them a doormat and they are forced to recruit your kids spot away because they don't do their jobs.

Why is this a scam? Why is winning bad? There are plenty of talented girls on their older teams that have come up through their system, how did they develop? Why not bring in new talent to compliment them? Thusc/CU isn't doing this? At the U15 level, they just brought in Eastside's center mid and some Vancouver players. They were trying hard to get the FCP player that went up to Seattle. Why isn't this an evil scam? You're wacko. Sorry your daughter got moved down to Navy but writing a check every year doesn't guarantee them a spot on the 1st team. Participation medal time is over, time for the real world.
