And before State Cup everyone is informed of how things might go down. However it is still heartbreaking when your kid is on the bench yet has the grace to hold his/her head up and support the team wishing all along for just a few minutes on he field because they love playing the game more than anything. And please don't come back with some snide remark about how that kid needs to work harder/do extra training etc. The kids that I know who sat out do all that. I guess it's a life lesson. One you need a tutorial in. I hope for your sake your kid never has to experience it.

Being sanctioned by the OPL?
Is that like having Bernie Madolff lecture you about sound investing?

Do not have on SC if you are doing the same thing. That's it.

We aren't the parents that push our child, insist on extra work, harass the coach or scream on the sidelines. We are supportive of her commitment and as a result also are supportive of her team. We also realize that she is not one of most talented kids on the team. But she is one of the most committed. Decisions about the level of commitment and intensity have come from our child, not us. So, sitting on the bench for a game was really rough on her. And rough on us watching her suffer afterwards, though she managed to celebrate her teammates win and not dissolve into tears until she got home. And just to let you know what kind of a kid she is, she then composed herself, decided she was going keep working her ass off and went to extra training that evening. Her decision, not mine. My "bias" as you put it is not that I think that my kid should play more or that I have special designs about her potential. My "bias" is towards her happiness, you moron.
Tina sat the kids during league games and indoor games just to win them so it wouldn't be surprising that during a time where it was a bit more understanding she would sit them. It is interesting that examples of FC Portland ex on here dealt with top premier teams and i can tell you that ALL the players play during state cup runs. PERIOD.
Don't believe the FCSC parent or coach who is lying to you. No one is as bad as Tina.
Nemesis is playing 2nd level state cup....not sure why, as all we do is talk crap about everyone else or how good they are, come to find out we can't even play in the top state cup.
A coach sitting her own original players for a 2nd level state cup considering some of them are guest players...is a joke.
What a circus. If she could find anymore kids to get her a win in any situation she'd sit the entire team.

Not the same as the 98 timbers but I wouldn't bring them into it as that team is a pretty low standard for a vt A team. But at fcsc, its a rolls Royce.

Actually they would struggle considering fcsc needed guest players from pacific.

However, if your team has a roster limited in size and for non-important games you bring in outside guest players and bench some of your own team, it sends a clear message to the bench they're not needed or considered part of the team when it's about winning at all costs. Sets a great example as a coaching role model.
