I am in total agreement that if the Onyx parents did not take every chance they can get to come on here and thump their egotistical chests about how THEIR GIRLS have competed, we wouldn't have to respond in the way we do. I emphasize THE GIRLS because THEY are the ones who put in the hours of training to compete at the level they do. Parents need to let them relish in THEIR success and not embarrass them on here by running their mouths off. On top of that, we all need to give credit where credit is due....there IS more than one good U15 girls team in OR!

But very few people come out and attack THUSC as a club unless provoked. People attack people that claim THUSC is the best club because that is just not true. Onyx is a good team. But the rest of the teams at THUSC that ride their coat tails and claim that THUSC is supreme, it's just not accurate and that is why people get pi$$y with that claim. Again, THUSC is a solid club with one great team. The remainder are solid, competitive teams and should be proud. But again, there are 5 or 6 clubs that are stronger top to bottom. IMHO.

Again, congrats to Onyx for a strong showing!
5-6 stronger? I think you've lost your mind there. FC is the only sting club for boys and girls. Vancouver will be stronger now that they merged with WSA but are still a girls club. OSSA is up and coming. WST and EST are pretty much strictly a boys club with Sherwood around to make them look like they're trying to care about the girls. It all falls apart at U15 though when the Sherwood girls learn they have to merge with WST.

        Cracks me up

Cracks me up how so many people try to minimize the accomplishments of Onyx by pointing out other league standings or how teams they just played have matched up in the past but then act like the bigger person at the end and say "congratulations Onyx way to go". Still being sure that the sentence before just discredited the accomplishment all together! And God forbid someone that is there tries to share their opinion of how the game went because then it's their parents pumping their chest!

Bottom line, great job Onyx, your best showing at Surf yet and you should be proud of your team! In fact great summer all around!

Hopefully there will be lots after try out but I just can't see any catching Onyx. I hear they will have a big try out tomorrow. The Sherwood-WST combo team didn't show well in the summer tournaments so I think the best hope is OSSA.

This is a really poor reason to attack this team. I can only think of one thread about Onyx that was started to congratulate them. ALL other threads have been started to attack. So, your excuse is unsupported. People also think it is unreasonable for someone to respond to these attacks. That boggles my mind a bit, but what can you do. Someone deranged enough to attack a children's team must have a screw loose to begin with.

No one ever said there isn't more than one good u15 team. There are many good teams at all age levels. The problem is that people come here and attack each other and put down children and their teams.

I am really interested in how this will work for WST and them becoming compliant with THPRD's affiliate requirements.

I agree and good enough is never good enough. Any team that has success, especially from THUSC, and someone is always on here attacking the accomplishment. The games need to be played on the field by the kids, disparaging what any of them do says something about the adults behind the keyboards. Every team has really good days and really bad days, just let the kids enjoy this, it is a very short time of their life. And it is okay for their parents to enjoy it too, soon this chapter will be done for them. And just because someone says "hey I am proud of my kid and their team" doesn't mean they are saying everyone else sucks, they are just excited like anyone would be. Maybe the rest of us shouldn't be so sensitive. So I completely agree with you, not sure why I come back here occasionally, it just always disappoints me.

Westside TS did not do so well because there were 5 out with injuries and two on vacation for two of those tournaments. After tryouts, they will have a different team...and only time will tell if they have what it takes. It starts with a great coach, and I have no worries there.

All the teams were missing players due to injury and vacations.

Not that many starters at one time they didn't!

And you know this how? Sounds like you have a weak bench.

You got me, I got suckered into this conversation. I'm done. I'm happy with our tryout results and our new team. Should be a fun year. Good luck to everybody else.

Yawn. Let it go. History proves itself time and again through ebbs and flows. There are many strong clubs because there are strong teams at these clubs. Fact remains that over time, these clubs still exist because they have good coaches, good club organization, and most importantly, good players and families who understand how competitive soccer works.

One club can be stronger or strongest for one reason or another, but these clubs are dynamic entities and have time on their sides. A coach moves on, sometimes players do as well. The arguments for a club's style of play or developmental style are moot. Not every single team at a club plays the same way or develops every one of their teams in the same way. Remember the relevance of technical/tactical/mental/physical skills and development and enter in personalities to see how they apply to the player "fit" on every team/age group/club.

Poster, your comments with trigger phrases such as "but are still," "strictly a," "make them look like they are trying to care," and "all falls apart," can be applied to any club during specific years, and are often wrongly/incorrectly used to influence or convince someone that these teams/clubs are not capable of adapting to change. Obviously they can adapt and prevail. I have been involved in club programs here and in southern California for over 40 years. Nothing new except that fortunately there are more youth involved in soccer so more opportunities for players. Best of luck to all players, all teams, all clubs, in looking to pursue the best competition afforded them.
