But If that happens that’s almost all OPFC players playing and one united, and chunk of FCP. Almost all of Lakeridge is OPFC and at least 3 of the top 5 players are at at u of j Yes I know VS is on Timbers too but he plays at OPFC as we watched him leave this summer and play there with them after regionals .

This will surely anger the TS parents

VS did play in a couple of year end tourneys last june/July with opfc 07 after multiple years with wsm and a year with TA. BTW opfc 07 proved a massive failure at both events this summer. But logged incredible air miles from Honolulu to Oralndo. Same 0, Same 0. Given this reality doubtful he will stick with opfc. Back to TA is

I’m not sure if making both those events as an Oregon team is can ever be deemed a massive failure and then being the only team to beat the eventual national champs in Florida and having more points in group than almost everyone in Hawaii is not a massive failure. But I don’t hate them like you do, just wished we beat them in state cup.

Being eliminated from advancing after the 1st game game in both events shouldn't be called a massive failure, it's truly an epic failure that cannot be outdone ever. Jus sayin.

Thanks for providing context, as the usys eventual champ had already clinched a spot in the semis prior to their 3rd game in pool play vs opfc. With just 1 team advancing out of the group.

Making this match essentially meaningless, but the match afforded the champs the occasion to rest their best players.

opfc has earned their pseudo name; Gaslighting FC.

Don't sleep on Crescent Valley in 5A. One goal allowed through 5 games, played 4 6A teams in preseason.

Hilarious. Just so I'm clear, what's the cutoff for acceptable soccer teams/players to discuss here? I don't want to waste everyone's time talking about the top ranked 5A high school teams if all anyone wants to do is talk about how bad/boring they are. I can always go back to monitoring an argument about which club has the best 2013 players.

That subject didn't merit discussing, next.

For you maybe. There are people in Oregon outside the metro area that also appreciate soccer though that might. Shaping up to be a very competitive Mid-Willamette season at the top with CV, West Albany, Corvallis, Woodburn, and McKay all duking it out for 4 playoff spots. Makes for some very entertaining games this month in the valley.

Given that most high schools (other than the private schools) have fixed attendance boundaries, winning state championships and producing top college players tend to have little do do with each other. One Portland-area school has sent three players to D1 in the past two seasons, but has yet to advance past the second round of the state playoffs.

I'll let you figure out which school it is.

You aren’t trying to dismiss the work academy players have done to commit to d1 before aging out of the academy by handing that achievement to a school they didn’t attend but their parents happen to live in right?

Or are you describing how bad a coach has to be that he can’t win state with future d1 players being spoon fed back to the program after being developed on the path to pro by Timbers?

Please please please tell me you are referencing the second one.

There are people near the metro interested in it too. Not everyone here is sad and bitter with their life.

Neither. Of the school I am thinking, only one of the three D1 players was ever with TA. (And he attended school at the high school; as opposed to being tutored by the academy; his connections were deeper than "parents lived in district").

I'm making no comment about the coach--the team had some very good players at the top, but also had several non-premier players in its starting lineup. In short, it wasn't deep, and tended to get beaten by the schools that fill an entire roster with kids on state cup rosters in club.

And I'm not attributing most of a player's development to a HS coach; given the limits placed on the high school season, we all know that's asinine. Though some kids learn a lot in high school, especially the ones for whom organized club soccer, especially travel teams, pose a financial hardship.
