No. Your response as a customer is to shop somewhere else. More appropriate here, however, is not to consider scheduling delay as abuse. That's just silly. But if you're really that sensitive, perhaps you should do something else.

Not an open or free market

IF there were truly equal choices in the soccer market OPL would be losing clubs and teams but they have a monopoly here in Oregon so they are able to abuse their customers with poor service and decision making that holds Oregon soccer back.

Except that the DOC's in the PDX area have created a monopolistic entity if you want to play competitive soccer in the area. Shop where exactly? Of course scheduling delay is an abuse. You apparently have not idea what it's like to try to be organized. As a customer, my options are not limited and complaining about it to the OPC (which I have done) and on whatever forums in which it might be heard are also options. What is silly is just taking it because, well gee, it's OPC and they rule and we love them and they can do no wrong and whatever they so goes and I'm just a stupid customer who pays their fricking salaries.

Your defense of this is indefensible unless, of course, you are decision maker with OPC. There are no other options for competitive soccer in the Portland area. What is it that bothers you so much about someone making some rather valid points? Signed: A customer who is fed up.

It doesn't bother me at all and I've got no affiliation with OPL. I just get tired of whiners. If you're that fed up then don't pay and don't play or sign your kid up for something else. It's as simple as that. I know you've paid your money so you think that gives you the right to whine but it really doesn't. Just stop. It makes you all come across like a bunch of spoiled brats. The season will go on. Hopefully your kids will have fun and hopefully they don't whine as much about referees as you all do about schedules. Oh, wait. That's next once the games actually start. It's a whole separate thread. Can't wait!

Such a moronic response. If you've got a kid that plays at the top level, where might I ask that he/she go? You just continue to avoid the question. You call it whining. I call it holding OPL accountable, particularly since scheduling was one of their primary basis for leaving.

It is whining and you're awfully sensitive about it. Just stop. My kids played at different clubs over the past 10 years and I dont recall anyone ever complaining about when the schedules came out. I really dont. The biggest complaint about schedules that I recall was that they sometimes had places like Bend, Eugene, Medford and Roseberg on them, not when they came out.

I was going to say the same thing, from what I recall the scheduling issues had more to do with the actual schedule then when they came out. It has always been roughly two weeks prior to the first weekend.

Thank you; I've been thinking the same thing reading this thread. I think the schedule timing is pretty standard.

Then don't reply. Pretty easy. Go back to the threads when the OPC came out and you will see the same complaints. I'm happy to report that I and many others have lives and have difficulty scheduling when the schedules are so late. Call it whatever you want - I don't really care what you think unless you are OPC, in which case - get your act together.

Do we know if games are starting the weekend of Jan 19th or Jan 26th? I have seen both listed.

I have not posted on this thread yet, but I wanted to add my experience of OYSA scheduling and now OPL as well as club practices, tournaments etc. I think that most coaches and soccer people just expect you to be flexible and schedule your whole life around soccer. At least some coaches understand if you have occasional conflicts and miss sometimes. Do coaches even look at calendars and plan ahead? I think that for some this is very frustrating and some end up quitting over this.

We have stuck with it because my kids are enjoying it and have found coaches that we like and can work with.

This forum might not do much good, but it is one way to communicate and vent to others who may feel the same way. What I am surprised by is that some just think this is just whining while I think it is legitimate and parents/players have a right to complain and talk to their coaches and OPL about this. If someone can do better job scheduling, by all means volunteer to help out, I personally would really appreciate some improvement, however, I have decided that this is not something I can control so I do my best to stay calm, breathe deeply and focus on making friends that can help with carpooling when we can't be there.

At least we know who we will be playing and where we might have to travel...

Even if/when the schedules do come out, they are of course subject to change. Also, we can't control the weather so there are somethings that you just have to let go of and focus your energies on helping your kid and team.

I believe it is the 26th as the FC Showcase is the weekend of the 19th.

Also, OSSA cup is the 19th-21st then the PCSC cup is in Seattle the 26th and 27th. So, for those participating in these tourney's - league should not start until Feb. You can see why this is so hard for everyone!

Having participated and been on the planning side (21 yrs+) I can tel you that the biggest hang ups in getting schedules out are based on: 1st-field availability. Weather and overlapping interests play in up until the last minute; 2nd-Roster adds; again, up until the last minute and getting players registered, uniforms ordered, etc.; 3rd-Coach sceduling conflicts; 4th-Player scheduling conflicts!
