Originally posted by Unregistered View PostAs I said, I do not know where it is going. Go look at financial statements for the clubs. There is no money flowing from the OPL into the 8 clubs. So where is it going? There are things we can prove/view (non-profit financials) and those we can't (mutual benefit corporations financials). Until that time, there will always be the suspicion that the money accrued by the OPL is going to the clubs or directly to the 8 council members. All I was stating is that it is NOT flowing into the clubs.

Great Minds
GW is one of the greatest minds in soccer. Not only did he use the OPC as a puppet to create the OPL and destroy OYSA, he managed to get the OPL to fund the DA. Then gets the rights for ODP, a nice revenue stream for his millionaire boss. We all wonder why MP sticks with him. The Timbers are one of the worst teams in MLS but GW puts money in MP's pocket.
Give credit where credit is due. The Timbers didn’t force you to give them your money they just laid a trail of sweet delicious candy for you to eat and you ate every single piece until you realized it gave you the $h!t$ and now your broke.
Wake up, this isn’t the old NASL Timbers, these aren’t the Timbers we fell in love with back in the 70’s. The Timbers were named after the loggers, we should call this new era the Portland Used Car Salesman.

Better Refs - absolutely. Do you know how many regional, DA, Collegiate+ refs that we have in Oregon now? Do you know how many we had prior?
If you're talking quantity, then you're right, it's the exact same.
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostState Cup - No difference. Still have all the same teams playing each other for bragging rights of who's the best in Oregon.
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostRegionals - this was biggest loss of moving to the OPL, having seen the rest of the teams that were at Regionals last year, it looks like most of the states are deciding to make the same cuts. California has a large majority of their teams elite programs no longer competing in the USYSA State tournaments (this doesn't mean that So Cal is weak in any way, they still swept Regionals). Smaller states are becoming much stronger and more competitive in these arenas. Competition is not the same it was 5 years ago, but it's still better than US Club Regionals by a LONG SHOT
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostNationals - USYSA still has the best Nationals, tell me how many OR teams have missed out on a chance to go to Nationals due to the OPL? ZERO!!! On this matter OPL and OYSA have allowed all of our top regionally competitive teams to compete. No argument, no loss.
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostScheduling - Words cannot express how much better the scheduling has become, how many less fines are being imposed, and how many less complaints. There will always be issues with schedule in any organization. You can't make everybody happy! To understand the difference you have to understand how the past system was operated and run. If you don't have an understanding of this, it is hard to criticize. OPL Wins in scheduling, by a long shot!
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostI have worked on the OYSA Staff, many of them are dear friends of mine, I have kids that have played in OYSA and OPL. I have spent a significant amount of time around both sides. I would love to hear your honest experiences with both. Not a made up talking-soccer entity.

As a player, you either play in one league or the other (few do both in the spring), so your not playing everyone (good and bad) throughout the year. How is that good for the sport or development of your player ?
The same with the clubs. You either work for a club that plays in one of the leagues or the other and your club stands by that organization. If your a freelance coach, you wont be one for long if you cross an OPL club more then once. They have proven that fact a few times.
OYSA offered the OPL last year all of the competitive soccer in the state in hopes of getting all playing one another. The OPL declined it. All OYSA wanted was all the player cards (at the same price we pay for US CLUB cards) and a split of state cup tourney monies. OPL could keep all the revenue from the leagues.

OYSA's proposal to bring the leagues together was hugely disappointing. You are bing misleading with your explanation of what occurred.
