Amen. A certain boys OPL State Cup winning team for the last 2 years didn't fare so well in Champions League versus Washington teams and afterwards were all poo-poo on the Charmpions League. Keep playing the same old teams all season long and then play them again in State Cup - what does that prove? Open up the pool and get some more competition where you can get it.

ODP vs ID2, ID2 not very active. ODP much mcuch more expensive
      NWCL, not an OP ideaL
WCDA, not a OPL idea, don't confuse this with the USDA
State Cup, nothing past state cup. No regionals, no nationals
Scheduling oysa and opl both suck.

We expected better we got the same or worse.
You missed three important differences. The top clubs essentially subsidized the entire league. They also wanted to limit league travel. OYSA refused to do this. Lastly, OYSA was grossly mismanaged.

Subsidized what ? They made over $100k the first year doing just a couple of age groups.

Limit league travel ? If you live in the State of Oregon, and there are teams in every town, and they are good enough to compete against your team, then why should only they have to travel to play you ? If your sooo broke, find another sport. Maybe rec soccer with your local park and rec would better suit your families financial status.

Grossly mismanaged ? So instead, all the profits go directly back into the 8 clubs that make up the organization ? Cause I dont seem them subsidizing anything. Have they granted/gifted or invested in anything in our state to promote or enhance the sport ? NOPE.....NOTHING / NADA / ZIP / ZERO.

Now with Hugo not coming back to town and no ID2 training, I guess the promise of a higher level from the OPL is gone now too.

So what we have here is the same league of teams playing each other (as we did before), traveling 1x to Seattle each year (typically being beat by them) and 1x extra weekend here (also being beat by them) at an additional costs to all of us and nothing that is left over comes back to making our players better.

Woo Hoo. Im so excited about all the things we were lead to believe were going to happen that just fizzled away.

At least playing in the USYSA regionals, you got a trip to Hawaii ever few years.

          add

And the travel is back on to Bend, Medford etc.

As soon as the OPC saw those dollars bills for league and state cup fees they decided we could all drive there again.

The OPL needs to raise money to pay for the Timbers DA program.

Thats right. Their campaign slogan was "limited travel = reduced expenses". Just like every government official, those promises diminish quickly once were all on board and their elected.

It's funny. Parents don't really care about this issue. It's allOYSA cronies who make these posts. They lost the bulk of their money when the top clubs left. They are now virtually bankrupt. It just goes to show that they were being subsidized by a few clubs.

What I don't like about the OPL is the lack of transparency. It's like a secret society. Board meetings dates / agenda aren't published. No outsiders at board meetings. No meeting minutes published. No financial statements published. When something is this opaque, there is usually corruption to be found...

The OPL is not for profit so their tax filings are public. I'm sure you could get the info you're looking for if you ask.

Wrong again Frankie. They are "Mutual Benefit Corp" They only have to answer to themselves and what they do/make is entirely theirs and nobody business.

Where have you been for the past 4 years ???

Unlike the OPL, OYSA is a non-profit and their tax returns are public. They are not bankrupt and in fact made a small profit last year.. The year before that when the OPL departed, they had to dip into reserves while they made adjustments, but that is on the mend and the organization is thriving (maybe not as good as they did before)

No, I was in favor of the OPL, but now I realize what a bunch of crap and lies the OPL is.

ID2 will be better than ODP. We just have ODP again and it costs more
Limited Travel, I am driving to Medford and Bend again
                          Better Refs, same refs

US Club Nationals and regionals, had this option with OYSA, now we don't have OYSA regionals and Nationals unless we play in their league, now there is an idea !!!. OPL failed lets go back to OYSA.

Also untrue: The clubs benefit from the money being made by OPL. I have no idea where this $ is going? Maybe straight into the DOC's pockets? That wouldn't surprise me at all. But it is completely false that any of this is flowing back to the 8 clubs.
