My kid IS better than all the kids on the OPFC 09 roster. As far as I know they are all good kids though. I hope all of them keep having fun and improving!

My 2011 son got a pretty elaborate written evaluation after RTC trainings but prior to ODP tryouts. Did the 2010, 2009, not receive those? I was pretty impressed with now in-depth it was. Kudos to all. Most of the stuff in the evaluation we knew already and my son is in the final pool so pretty satisfied on my end. One issue I had though was that I did see one of the OPFC coaches running RTC and on the field during ODP tryouts. Aaron Peck I believe. Not a surprise that his kid made it, will withhold judgement on where it was a deserved selection. But super weird dynamic. At this level, parents should not be coaching or evaluating their kids in any capacity. Maybe good for your kid, but not fair for the rest.

Parents are the worst part of kids soccer.
If you think these coaches care what team a kid plays for rather than winning you are delusional . At odp they only care about winning not making kids better etc it’s 100 percent result oriented.

LMFAO - every year we get the ODP posts but this year’s are some of the best . “It’s not fair” (my favorite), “my wonder kid made Salt Lake last year and didn’t get picked this year”, “ODP is the best soccer in Portland”, “the B team would kick the A teams ass”.
Half the whiners say ODP sucks, the other half complain when their kid doesn’t get picked. Who f’in cares. Play, don’t play, they will get their money regardless. And that right there should tell you all you need to know.

1) No ODP coach should coach the same age/sex as he or she coaches at club.
2) No ODP coach should be permitted to contact any player not on his/her club, outside of ODP functions, unless a) a bulk announcement that goes to everyone, or b) the player's parents and club coach are included in the communication.
3) Player selection decisions should be done jointly, or in age group pools, with each coach observing more than one age group and making decisions collectively. The coaches of each pool should come from different clubs.
4) Any offer of preferential treatment in exchange for personal training sessions, changing clubs, etc should be prohibited.
