As a Grant Generals parent, I'm a bit biased. #GoGrant

I would say in no particular order:

      Grant
      Jesuit
      Beaverton
      Forest Grove
      Tualatin

Grant plays 6 of the preseason Top 10 teams AND the Washington state champs Camas.... I guess coach Manolis wanted our girls to beat the best. Non league schedule will be a challenge for sure.

        Sherwood
        Beaverton
        Camas
        Mountainside
        Summit
        Jesuit
        Lake Oswego

Question, do high schools have an unwritten rule of not cutting Seniors from Varsity teams?

Depends on the school. Seniors are not allowed on JV teams, so it's varsity or nothing.

If there are more seniors that go out for soccer than can fit on the roster, someone will be cut.

It seems like most schools do not cut Seniors. It’s a dumb policy and you can easily spot the ones that should have been cut.

You can also see which schools have this policy by watching the strength of their JV teams with good freshman on them.

ours keeps them if they did JV all 3 years, but coach makes it clear they probably won't play except senior night. Many have dropped out after a few years of slugging it out on JV

Jesuit cut a senior a few years ago, and Westside/Thorns academy put her on the academy team (back when Academy teams didn't play HS soccer). Which speaks volumes about the talent level on those academy teams back in the day.

Jesuit is one of the few (or only) program that follows a merit-based system. That’s why he has had the success over the years. He recruits strong players and makes it clear only the best will play. Being one of the best HS soccer players is not a crazy high bar, but having a bunch of lazy, slow, and sloppy players out their purely because they are seniors is a recipe for a losing program.

I guarantee you younger players with talent will play 2x harder than most seniors. They want to prove themselves. These teacher/coaches are lazy and politically motivated. It makes the high school scene nearly unwatchable. Most coaches will tell you that they have fix a lot of bad habits when these girls get back from High School season.

Kudos to Jesuit for their approach for fielding the best side possible and truly playing to compete and win. Unlike other high schools such as St Mary’s that will give any Senior who wants to play a varsity roster spot regardless of experience and skill. This is not a good look and also unfair to those experienced players looking to compete.

Also, recruiting players is strictly forbidden by OSAA, but obviously not strictly enforced if their fans are just tweeting it out.

Jesuit doesn’t “recruit” players. They attract great players because of their quality program.
