There’s a difference between physical play and fouls and too often refs call a foul with any contact that results in a player ending up in the ground. Also I have never seen a fight in girls soccer but I certainly have in boys. I have no idea what this guy means about pulling cards before they start fighting.
I watch both and no, I don’t know. This is a ridiculous statement. It depends on who the ref is. I’ve seen refs in girls games call nothing while players are getting flattened everywhere and the fouls escalate. I’ve seen others call the slightest push. It’s entirely inconsistent. You’re claiming girls refs call the slightest contact, meaning that the games will be less physical. Yet another person posted that womens soccer is more akin to rugby. The gist of this statement is true in my opinion, the womens game in America values strength and aggression over skill. But how is that true if the refs are calling everything? It’s because they’re not. So maybe you saw one game with a ref calling too much, that happens in both mens and womens games.
